Take a bottle of soapy water and spray it on the scratch and wipe over it, and if it temporarily disappears this will work, but if it does not disappear it will not work.

Come to think of it, Lexus actually has a very good paint quality. As long as you don’t get in an accident or have something that caused a major scratch, the paint quality is superb!

Would this work on a plastic non texture front clear coated and painted bumper (2013 CRV)? I had a scratch from someone backing up from a parking lot and I hit her rear passenger fender while I was making towards the exit at very low speed, the passenger side bumper only had very light smudged like clear coat scratch and a few other scratches running a few inches in different direction that is barely noticeable unless I run my fingernail off it. Attempted to use Meguiar's Polishing compound thinking it's too light to use rubbing compound but it's less noticeable after two passes by hand.

@carswithsonduren
@carswithsonduren 3 жыл бұрын
Won't really work. You will need either a dual action polisher or a rotary buffer to get the scratches out. Now you could technically do this by hand but it would take forever, and you wouldn't get these type of results. Highly recommend you just go with the machine polisher, it's a great investment because you're going to eventually get more scratches, especially if you have a daily driver and having it in your arsenal is extremely valuable IMHO.

Hey Sonduren, thanks for the product advertisement video. I usually use Turtle wax or Meguairs and I hadn't heard of this new wax yet. That said, buffing out the scratches was BS. As soon as you spread the TW on they were wiped off. They were definitely not "deep" scratches. Next time, use your own key on the paint so we can see the scratch you make and then buff it out. That would make us believers.
@carswithsonduren

Good rule of thumb yes as a test but you can still remove a deeper scratch to a degree where you can barely see it.

@Cars with Sonduren cool that you have an IS250. Super nice cars. My grandpa has one, a 2013 in mint condition, candy apple red with only 98,000 Kilometres! Incredibly low for a 10 year old car! It only leaves his garage approximately 2X a week. I didn’t realize you’re Canadian, we are on Vancouver Island. But man those IS250’s just run and run, and run some more, notorious for getting over 600,000 km on regular maintenance. Super reliable, 325,000 k for yours is just getting warmed up. Are you still enjoying it nearly 2 years after this video? I love these cars so much it reminds me of my grandpa’s I love it

Nice it must be in mint condition! Nice to see a fellow Canadian welcome to the channel :-) visited Vancouver Island one time and went to Tofino. We absolutely love it there and wish we could move and live there. Still enjoying it. It is our second car now since we recently picked up a 2023 Lexus NX 350H for the baby. I could probably give her the IS when she’s 18 😂
