*Available in HD - Krik of Black Owl Outdoors takes a look at the Fjällräven Stubben, a backpack with classic styling and built in stool. We were contacted by Fjällräven US and asked if we would take a look at the pack and give our thoughts and impressions. Despite it seeming like a novelty, the pack offers a surprising amount of versatility and always is manufactured to Fjällräven's exacting standards.

Some very unique and the frame/seat concept is very useful. I also like the optional side pockets, and the ax supporting strap. Side pockets always add tremendous capability. Keeping the frame in the pack only makes good common sense. Great pack for sure!👍👍🙂🙂🙂

Great concept having a bag that doubles as a seat. Much easier than looking for a semi flat rock or stump.

I have one of these Stubben packs with the pockets and it's absolutely brilliant. When I went bear and wolf watching in Sweden, the forest guides all had these rucksacks donated by Fjallraven, which were great to sit-on while brewing-up in the wilderness. Be advised that it is quite heavy though, but not so bad for me, as I'm relatively robust.

Dear Krik. Thank you for elaborating on the frame in the review. Meanwhile I got myself a Stubben too and tried again to remove the frame. I got one step further than the last time I tried it but gave up at some time because - you say it right - the real point of this backpack is the frame! : ) Thank you for your reviews and all other videos, they are inspiring! If you noticed the pattern of the seat cover (not the logo though) you will understand what stubbe means. Yes, what's left in the ground after cutting down a tree, the stump. (In case you wondered)

Thanks Krik.....I was looking forward to your thoughts regarding the Stubben pack. This is a great rucksack IMO. I use if for specific hikes and it's worked out wonderfully. The old school look/aesthetics are simply amazing. I rides really well, and I hardly notice the few extra pounds because of the internal frame. I carry more of my bushcraft items in it for day hikes and it's great as noted above. Love the sitting option as well. I was able to get mine on sale for $180 and found the two side pockets for $26. It was well worth it.......I also own other things, mostly clothing, from Fjallraven and love their gear. You get what you pay for and I am a Fjallraven fan for life--I definitely have to save as it's pricey, but that's okay.......Thanks again Krik......Oh, will you be keeping your Stubben? Just curious.

It´a great hunting back pack. Expensive as coitus but can handle my 220+ pounds or 100kg+ clothes. I never even thought about this back pack for anytning else than a thermos, sandwiches, map and extra clothing carrier. For me it seems a bit small for my sholder with. I´m 6,2+ inches or 191cm, not that fat.

Sarah Woodruff Pronouncing like you'd think is pretty close actually. I cant think of a single word in english with a component that is pronounced like the "U" is pronounced quite like in "Stubben". I guess "Stybben" or "Stouben" could pass as some dialect :P

gas-gabbe how is it pronounced?
@Menkalo
@Menkalo 5 жыл бұрын
Prepperjon The letter “u” in “Stubben” would be pronounced with a sound you can almost imitate by mixing the English “Y” and “O”, letting them meet in the middle. In Scandinavia, however, a vowel followed by _double_ consonants is pronounced almost as if it gets interrupted by the consonant, compared to English where most vowels are ‘stretched’ when spoken. Almost as if you would pronounce “Club” in English.

You don't, it's a day pack. As such it is not really designed to carry the weight of an over "nighter" unless you are travelling ultra light. Also being a day pack it lacks a waist belt which some have commented on as being a negative. Why do you need a waist belt on a day pack?
