First time seeing your channel, love the vibes with the background music. Thinking of upgrading my Si to either a Type-R or an Audi RS3. The RS3 is significantly more expensive but it only beat the Type-R on Nurbergring by 4 seconds. Nothing an FBO set up wouldn't fix. Of the 2, the closest to any I've driven was the FK8. I can't stand the looks of the FK8 but the drive was magical. I assume the FL5 is the same at least. I LOVE the looks of the FL5. It's sleek and clean, plus, as you mentioned, no fake vents. I think it's best to wait. On a side note, they've been really pumping these cars out. I've seen the FL5's number badged over 10,000 - and its been out a little over a year. I have a feeling they will produce more FL5's than the fk8 at this rate, since the 2020 fk8 production was shortened due to COVID. Not so much for the FL5.
@GridZilla
@GridZilla 8 ай бұрын
Depends on what you’re waiting for. If it’s MSRP then you can get that now or pretty darn close to it and since the MSRP is going up by $1500 for 2024 I’d say there’s no better time than now
@etirnty3837
@etirnty3837 8 ай бұрын
I’d say that depends. The 23 fl5 has been forsale for almost 15 months now so rightfully the badge number will be higher and it’s also a worldwide number grabbed randomly from a box. Fk8 first year ended around 8000 if I believe. I’d say waiting may be a dangerous game with msrp increases and the rumor that seems pretty set on 2025 being the last year before going to a hybrid/ev type r.

Planning to keep the car stock, but I am worried about the car overheating. Its a very hot country, talking about 110-125 F most of the summer. Also I would really need the AC to be as cool as it get to survive. I wouldn't want to add much to the car as well to avoid any warranty violations ( comes with a 5 year warranty or 85K miles ). FL5 vs FK8 is like Ap1 v Ap1. Chassis and powertrain is 95% the same. Looks and interior is different. Personally I much prefer the FL5, but I can see why you would like the FK8. Ap1 is more raw, and I prefer the looks. But many prefer the updated Ap1 lights and torque

I agree to a point. On the surface it seems like 95% the same but the deeper you dig and the harder you push the platform I’m starting to see some profound difference in the chassis and suspension. Engine is definitely 95% the same with the biggest difference being to OEM turbos and ECU. My point being that yes there are a lot of similarities and most people will never really see the big differences but for those looking for every tenth there are some bigger differences that can’t be ignored and should not be modified using FK8 parts.

Debating if should trade my fk8 3k miles to a FL5 from dealer.

Honestly? For most people that already own an FK8, probably not but that really depends on what you get on trade in.

How u compare fl5 and supra? im fk8 owner. was thinking change to fl5 or supra mk5 3.0
@GridZilla
@GridZilla 8 ай бұрын
Two completely different cars. Only comparable from a price standpoint but after that they aren’t the same. Depends really on how’s you would be using the vehicle.

@@sueqma Much higher potential on the Supra for track but you have to spend money to get there. Type R is much better out of the box

Just wait a couple years and you’ll find them for cheap, if you bought new sell with 3-5 years to get almost msrp back
@GridZilla
@GridZilla 6 ай бұрын
I don’t think Type R’s of any generation ever sold for “cheap” brand new and why would they because just as you said, 3-5 year old trade ins would still be around MSRP.

You can definitely get it for about $3k over maaaaybe MSRP right now. In a month it will be $1500 more at MSRP. Stop waiting. You’ll regret it

Going for 10-15k over msrp over in my area. Only seen 1 on the road so far. Good thing people aren't dumb enough to pay that ridiculous price tag 😂
@GridZilla
@GridZilla 8 ай бұрын
@@memphisraines8118 I highly doubt they’re actually selling for that price right now. Go in there with a sweeps offer ready to drive away in a new car and I’m sure you can get much closer to maybe $5k over or less

Still love the FK8 over the FL5. Sorry bud.. the FL5 has a boring body style. Maybe the upgrades in area took the R to the next level but it will never look as Radical out the box like an FK8. Enjoy that FL5, at least until the new one cones out and yal get brainwashed like its something when its not. No disrespect just benig real.
