Jesse…. Your “can do it all” mindset is very impressive……. I’ve been watching you and Andrew for a while. Between the two of you guys, nothing is impossible!

We literally just did this last week to a 3 axle trailer ON ALL 6 WHEELS, plus doing 3 S cams & bearings. I'm 120 lbs and lifted a drum without the hub on it myself, but the trailer ones are lighter. I use vice grips on the springs, And push the wire spring in with my fingers. Instead of an impact and a special C-clamp to get those pins out, I use and Oxy/Ace torch on the knuckle then hit it with an air/jack hammer deal. Pop right out.

Man, the struggle is real! I appreciate the way you approach recording your work. A lot of (most?) videos make hard jobs look easy. This was a hard one, and your effort really shows. I guess this is what "reality" TV REALLY looks like. Always enjoy/commiserate and learn something from you. Thanks, keep up the good, honest work!

Always fill the hubs with oil before you install the outer bearing. Never beat the spider trying to get the anchor pins out it will bend. Heat it with a torch and use the press.

Congrats Jesse on getting the brakes and king pins on the truck. what some work. looks like the all underside needs sandblasted.

I would paint the rim black and the lock ring silver. They look real good when done that way.

When you reinstall the tires....you place your 4 pound hammer along side the tire hammer head down and handle upwards alongside the rubber tire. It is your gauge to see if you have the tire tighten properly. You spin the tire as you tighten the spots that need to be brought back into their proper place.

Jesse - you have amazing patience and resolve. As an Upstate NYer, we would be pissing, moaning, f bombing and throwing tools if we were doing this job. And there is the rust.......... Well done Sir.

Its hard to be impressed on other youtube car mechanics with million dollar shops making videos about how to put spacers while changing tire.

Great work Jesse. Keeping that truck on the road compared to the cost of a newer one is a no brainer. Your knowledge will get you more than money will--not that money isn't a great "getter of good things." Knowing how to fix things goes farther than money does.

Hey Jesse commercial truck repair is heavy strength saponin I spent 18 yrs years repairing trucks and trailers inc mobile cranes our company didn’t like buying new parts so we had to repair all we could enjoyable times when at a time I was fit to do it good luck to you great video brings back memories

That's impressive doing all that work by himself, I could only imagine how long it took but at least he saved thousands by doing it himself.

Jesse, if you have time, you can freeze those bushings Overnight, and they will just slip right in. give them a couple of hours to warm up, and they'll be tight in the bore. Might save you some effort, and frustration. That's a lot of work regardless.

I do like your videos where you narrate and explain your thought process, but this is a cool style as well. Looking forward to seeing progress on the track loader soon

So here is the deal Jessy we want you to pour a concrete work pad some where, it time to stop working in the dirt and gravel. Think of it as a force multiplier and safety adaptation there Sir.

When you're trying to break the axle shaft free thread, the nuts back on a bit (so you don't send the cone washers into orbit lol, been there done that), take your biggest sledge and hit it like you really mean. SWING IT LIKE YOU'RE MAD at it, it'll come free.

Job well done Jessie thers not much you won't tackle. Work shop when the house is finished.👌

You need a few more tools like - wedge plyers, ladies foot set and a twenty pound hammer. That big hammer will break those axles loose. Surprised that you replaced everything but the s cam bushings? Just one more point, when the front wheels are put back on I would put a piece of four by four on the ground beside of the wheel and tighten it and spin it to get it on as straight as possible. You did well, good work.

I thought you were in trouble there for a moment , I saw the undercarrage inspectore look'n . Should be safe now !

My buddies brother bought a 2 year old 1 tonne truck for plowing and didn’t clean the undercarriage before he started. 1 year later, the entire undercarriage Wes completely rusted out. Frame, springs and brakes. All because he didn’t want to clean it. Meanwhile the truck that my buddy bought was in great shape because he took the time to do some preventative maintenance. It took us 1 day but that truck is still working like it’s brand new.

@Jesse Muller Working alone can be incredibly risky, if you are out of earshot of help, always try to avoid suspended loads of any sort if at all possible. In this instance, I would have left the wheels on the rig, jacked the wheel just clear of the ground, then push a greased board under the middle of the tyre and lower the jack till the wheel weight is just supported, then undo the hubnut and the entire assembly slides off without need to lift anything, the advantage of this is if chocked in that position, a wheel that slid off will always slide straight on as easy as it came off. Just an old timer teaching a young buck how to suck eggs!!!

I had to replace a stub axle on the front of my Freightliner a few years back, from memory the parts came from Mercedes Benz here in Australia. The kit included new king pin and bushes, just like you are fitting. I don’t know what the grade of steel is in the king pin but if you ever need to machine a precision fit pin for something, keep your old king pin as they machine up beautifully in a lathe!

king pin replacement probably one of the worst jobs you can do on a truck EVERYTHING is either siezed or rusted to bits.. lol nice job jesse.i also agree with you get those hub's changed asap.

Lots of extra work on those Dayton styles wheels. I was living vicariously and painfully along with you. Used to work on trash packers and we had a couple of White/Volvo/GMC(yeah there was a year with all 3 badges)trucks with Daytons. As the new guy, I ‘got’ to wrench on em. Few extra steps :-) The FL is a great little work horse, that thing is gonna go till she needs pads again, who cares about the wheels. Spend that $3k on something pressing. And rusty, rusty where?? I’ll show you rusty as soon as I find your IG. Good work, summer is close by. We’ll be going like gangbusters!

When refitting those collets smear them in copper grease and it’ll save you in the future from another headache of hammering like mad🤙🏼

I don't know how you yanks can stand all that rust, I'm totally spoiled living in Texas where there is zero rust like that. I wouldn't even consider buying a vehicle that looked like that nor attempt to work on one. Again, I'm spoiled but love it.
