As a Mauritian here, always kinda thought the red on the flag stood for the blood shed during the struggle for independence. At least, that's what I learnt at school.

I was one of the first official foreign visitors to East Timor. I was in the Navy, on USS Decatur and we went to East Timor right after they officially became a nation and had a dignitary get together on the ship. There's my moment in history, I guess.

We also had a trip to Seychelles earlier in our deployment. Once of the best few days of my life. It can be expensive and people are always trying to rip you off with exchange rate scams, but it's a blast and so nice.

Oh, and that cadet isn't in the military, yet. He's nothing. Signed his rights away but really has no rank... yet. Give him time, though. And try to not thank a service member/vet. Much like myself, I have found that most feel awkward when it happens and we really don't know how to respond. Go Navy! Beat Army!

There's a little song that we all learned about the flag in kindergarten. It goes like this: Rouge comme les Flamboyants- Red like the Flame trees Bleu comme la mer- Blue like the sea Jaune comme le soleil- Yellow like the sun Et vert comme les champs de Canmes- And green like the sugarcane fields 🌴 And i think it represents the island pretty well.

Well, Kind of, Aztec and Nahuatl are the same thing, But saying they're alive is like asking "Is Navajo still spoken in the US?" Yes, but, it's not spoken by a majority. Today, around 4 to 5% of the Mexican population is Indigenous, but only 2% speaks a Native American Language like Nahuatl or the different varieties of Mayan Languages.

5:33 The flag is use by the Free Papua Movement/Organisasi Papua Merdeka (OPM). Indonesia government labelled it as separatist movement. Using the flag in public is considered as crime and a lot of people, especially native Papua, has been arrested for using clothes that has the flag on it. Yeah, it's a controversial thing because OPM seek independence from Indonesia, but many native Papua support the movement because they think they are different from the rest of Indonesian. The Mauritian flag was built based on politico-ethnical reasons. It represents the largest political parties that voted for Independence. The colors are arranged in accordance to the parties power. Red= Labour party Blue= PMSD Yellow= IFB Green= CAM

"J'ai la frite" literally means "I have the fries" but it is used to mean: "I am pumped!" or "I am full of energy!". Also, Swiss chocolate is the BEST! Belgians makes good pralinés (chocolate sweets) and good beer. (of course, I am Swiss^^)

Barbs The pronounciation of "Clavisque" was slightly off. "-que" means "and" and, like most things in Latin are, is pronounced exactly how it's written. Meaning, The "e" is stressed and not silent as it is in french -> Clavisqué
