Hannah has finally passed her "hazing" season and is now one of us. Oh and Keith will get his own mini-segment in the series soon instead of just being a "one-liner" guy. Oh and next week I announce the winner of the Geograbee contest. Oh and we are doing the Bundesländers of Germany for Filler week. Stay tuned

When Nepal was formed by uniting all the small states, the Flag used by the Gorkha Soldiers from the state "Gorkha" didn't have color on it. It was just two pieces of triangle white clothes with the Moon and the Sun. During the battles, the flags would soak in red blood of the dead and injured soldiers and that's how their flag became red later on.

The royal history of my country is pretty messed up. Two rival royal families kept killing each other, it stopped after the royal family got slaughtered by the king's son (appearantly, the story is way too suspicious) followed by instability, a civil war and then democracy with a communist party that holds the most seats in our parliament. Very confusing. Just stick to Mount Everest.

Interesting fact -- Nepali flags are hard to purchase because flag manufacturers need a special template for it and it alone. Most simply don't bother. A few that do just make the flag rectangular anyway, with the unused field being blank white. They leave it up to the user to remove the white part if they wish.

Deep Facts about Flag of Nepal :- It is the only perfect mathematically designed flag. It is made of two triangles. It consists of Two triangle, blue stripe, red background, white color, sun and moon. All has its own deep meaning. • Two triangles :- These triangles defines the two main regime in Nepal :- Shah dynasty and Rana Dynasty. These triangles also defines the two main religion actually related to Nepal :- Buddhism and Hinduism. The two triangles also defines as the Himalayas. • Blue Stripe :- It defines the peace and harmony in the country. It also clarify the richness of Nepal in water resources. It also describes the kindness of Nepalese people. • Red Background :- The red background is actually crimson colour which is the national color of Nepal. This background describes the bravery of Nepal and sacrifices of Gorkha Soldiers. It also reflects the color of National flower of Nepal "Rhododendron". • White color :- This means the snow capped mountains of Nepal. It also defines purity of Nepalese. • Sun and Moon It reflects a slogan "Nepal will exist until the sun and moon against." Moreover, the sun and the moon defines the two main nature of Nepalese :- aggressive and peaceful respectively. The moon describes the cold Himalayan region and the sun describes the hot Terai Region. So, the moon is kept up as himalayan region is above and the sun is kept down as Terai Region is below.

If Nepal have Shah and Rana dynasty/wangsa. Indonesia have wangsa Sailendra (Saila+Indra, King of the Mountain) and wangsa Sanjaya. Sanjaya is Hindu dynasty and Sailendra is Buddhist dynasty. They create Borobudur and Prambanan candi/temple as place of worship and monument of peace. Btw, about the flag form, we call it as "umbul-umbul" and we usually use it when independence day come. U can google it with "umbul-umbul merah-putih" as the keywords.

The color of the flag is red because of the color of our blood. REASON FROM HISTORY: Nepal was formed 300 years ago as a single nation after hundreds of bloody battles which Gorkha King started to unify small states. The flag they carried had a moon and the Sun but it was always on a plain cotton cloth which was naturally white in color. After each battle ended, the flag would turn reddish with the wounded soldier's blood. Thats why todays flag is red. And the edge of the flag is blue because of the blood too. When you hold a piece of cloth soaked in human blood and let it dry in the Sun light, the bottom edge will look blueish because of the higher content of iron in our blood. Nepalese soldiers saw the similar pattern in colors in every battle they fought and thats why the flag has a blue edge.
@nikofrost
@nikofrost 5 жыл бұрын
Barbs, a bit disappointed in this episode. The Nepal flag has other interesting characteristics that you didn't mention. I don't recall all of it off the top of my head but as I remember, the triangle pennon shape has a historical context of being a flag for riders? Or a string of pennons like you'd see at race track? I don't actually recall. I remember somewhere about the the odd angles of the triangles having to do with math and not just "oh that's a nice shape". Also, yeah... your last few main episodes have needed a bit more "corrections" when the flag episode came along. Between that and not booking the KZfaq studio, it feels like you're losing interest. If so, take a break, but get back at it. I think we'd rather have a break followed by quality rather than a slow decline. I like your buddies being in the video but it gets distracting, I miss it just being you and sometimes one or two others, the constant switching is off-putting. Yes, many things have improved since Argentina (my first), but remember it is your heart that makes these more than just "The Geography Guy" telling dry facts. Find that love, spend sometime felling gratitude that you can make living educating people and doing good things- most endeavors this positive don't pay at all. When it feels like "Damn, another one! And I'm only on the letter __!" Think about the other things you would be doing if you had not started this, feel the gratitude from your viewers (even people like me, I am grateful that you do this!) and let it become gratitude for your life as it is now. You made it. Love it, live it, give us good episodes.

I am a Madhesi and yeah I wanna say that we are discriminated and told that we are not a part of Nepal. Most Madhesis will agree that most people ill-treat us in the hill region. They call us Indians or mainly "Vele" or "Dhoti" despite most of us being born in Nepal and use racial slangs against us. It's just frustrating and so bad that there is less unity among people. Though the problem is not so big nowadays it's still there and there's no solution for this.

LIAG yeah, like I’m also Nepali but I’m pahadi apparently. And like to be honest, a lot of people in Nepal are technically “M word”(don’t wanna use the term, it’s rude) like most people have Indian-like names(except for the other Magar, Gurung, Rai, Limbu etc.) like my mum told me they were discriminated so much when she was a child, and now they aren’t. And like some “m word” did kinda great things for Nepal. For example Binod Chaudhary, I mean he’s kinda confusing, he did both good and bad things kinda. Good as in he is the reason why Wai Wai exists and it’s popular, and he made electronics, and apparently he improved education in rural schools in Nepal(as Urban schools are way better) and bad as he doesn’t really use his money he earned to improve Nepal(well idk for sure, but I think so) and apparently he did some illegal things to also become a billionaire. But apparently people hate them for the “m word” being uncilivized. But I mean compared to the Rohingya crisis, the “m word” problem isn’t as bad. Like K.P Oli isn’t kicking them out(idk if he is, he might be) but he isn’t doing the worst jobs like the Burmese to the point the robingya crisis has been on the news many times
@pariwesh

@@ZedEditz31z True and I am not saying that all people are bad but some are and they are just a shame to the country and they cause all the hate and discrimination that is around. @pariwesh
@pariwesh 5 жыл бұрын
@@he6agonzxdv467 You know in some situation it would work fine, like in the matter of Punjab and Pakistan because the people there are united but in Nepal most people are nice almost 95% don't discriminate people and are all friendly and treat everyone equally but the 5% are just like pests which destroy things. If these 5% people's mind is to be cleansed, it would be much better for the whole country.
