A short video explaining the uses of reducing flames, neutral flames and oxidizing flames in jewelry manufacture. When soldering or melting gold, silver and platinum for jewelry manufacture you will understand how the different flame types are used. This knowledge will help you to successfully solder gold, solder silver and solder platinum. You will also understand how the different flame types are used for melting gold, melting silver and melting platinum.

Nice, beginners video. Good reminder for others as well. One caveat, I don't think using a Bic lighter is recommended by the torch manufacturers. May as well teach the 'right' way, since this is considered a possible safety hazard. So, if that's all that's wrong with your first video - I think you did well.

You are correct regarding the manufacturers safety recommendations, however in my 27 years making jewelry I have not seen a fellow professional goldsmith light their torches by any means other than a lighter. If you are mindful of the dangers and take care you will be fine. Like keep the lighter far away from the flame once lit. Like putting the lighter in your pocket. Mmmm.

Thanks for this illustration. Can you tell how to go about with a butane torch, which works differently?

I fail to see how a butane torch works any different. LPG gas, cooking gas, Propane, Butane etc combined with oxygen all work the same.

I've been always reminded to close gas first and then oxygen to prevent the flame from being sucked into the cables, because in most of the toarches the overall pressure of oxygen is higher then gas. Could you correspond to that?

You should always close the oxygen first and then the gas. If you close the gas first you will get a small explosion in the nozzle of the torch

Nope, you turn the gas on first, but off second. GOOG is a great mnemonic for remembering this - Gas Oxygen (on); Oxygen Gas (off).
