It is a joke……Flamin’ Hots were created by a team of hotshot snack food professionals starting in 1989, in the corporate offices of Frito-Lay’s headquarters in Plano, Texas. The new product was designed to compete with spicy snacks sold in the inner-city mini-marts of the Midwest. A junior employee with a freshly minted MBA named Lynne Greenfeld got the assignment to develop the brand - she came up with the Flamin’ Hot name and shepherded the line into existence.

Bit the entire Sotheby’s a lie though. Flamin hits idea was created by a black salesman and sotre owner onthe Southside if Chicago named Fred Lindsey. Lindsey notices his black customers preferred the spicy snack over the Frito-lay plain tasting ones. And th ie sports rion to move forward with the project was ever 8 executives who visited Chicago and Detroit stores and wanted to Crete a spicy snack that appea,Ed ro balck cusk ere at midwestern m8ni marts. The Marketing chief chosen to develop and oversee the project was “Lynn Greenfield” who came up with the “Flamin hot” name and packaging. Steven Williams was the first consultant hired by the Frito-Lay marketing team and aa Flamin Hot consultant a and the ideas on what flavors, spices , and ingredient's would appeal to the black consumers in the Midwest they were targeting for this brand were made by him and a group of 5 other black associates in Chicago who included “Marvin Johnson, Roy Patterson, Darius Smith, Jamal Jackson and William Woodley”. They would send there ideas to the marketing team at the Headquarters in Plano, Texas. Steven Williams later went on to vec9 the first black CEO of PepsiCo North America and still has the position as of today. Richard was not on that Flamin Hot Advisory board in Chicago or the Frito-Lay marketing team in Texas. Neither was any other Hispanics. So the idea for Flamin Hots Chips came form Fred Andre Lindsey and the creator of the brand itself was a group effort which came from multiple people who were African-American and White marketing employees. The claims Richard started making early 2000s. he came up with the idea and created the brand inspired off Mexican themed spicy snacks in California is complete fabrication.

Montanez was a big proponent of making a Latino market within Frito-Lay, he can also take credit for pushing flamin' hot popcorn and sabritones. He just can't claim Hot Cheetos or to have been a janitor when he pitched it. Flamin’ Hots were created by a team of hotshot snack food professionals starting in 1989, in the corporate offices of Frito-Lay’s headquarters in Plano, Texas.

It’s not fake, Frito Lay has already backed him, the main ingredients used were invented for thousands of years by Mexicans and South Americans. Elotes are a huge thing in Mexican culture. It is basically an elote and no old white women could invent something that resembles an elote when they can’t even pronounce it correctly.

It’s not though It said that Richard Montañez , the son of Mexican migrants in California, invented the Cheetos variant when inspired by Mexican corn while working as a janitor in a Frito-Lay factory and that this creation led him to become vice president of multicultural sales. Here's the thing, I am more willing to believe he created it than her. The reason is naturally Mexican history with spices and foods. It might be easier to believe her, but I personally am more inclined to believe him. Also, where is her proof? Her word? Just interesting how everyone is willing to say he's a liar because of her word. Either way, congratulations! It was a great movie. Also, i found it notable that he was a committed worker at the bottom unwilling to stay there. Great lesson for many of us who tend to be lazy and disrespectful to management. Not talk8ng anythign away form Richard or what he accomplished when it came to marketing to Hispanic market lster on but his entire hit fake s story is total Fabrication. The idea and first pitch for Frito-lay to develop hot flamins came from an African-American Salesman on the Southside of Chicago named “Fred Lindsey”! Mr. Fred Andre Lindsey who has also denied Richards claims noticed his black customer's all preferred the spicy snacks in the store. Frito Lay then sent 8 marketing executives(4white and 4 black) to black neighborhood corner stores in inner-city Chicago and Detroit where they all decided they wanted to create a spicy snack to appeal to black consumers i the Midwest inner city market to compete with the spicy snack form competitors in the inner city Midwest markets. They also interviewed a variety black salesman and black customers at those corners sores about what flavors and ingredients they wanted on the chips. So the inspiration for hot flaming according to to the company came form inner-city corner stores in Chicago and Detroit. And the idea to start the hot flamins chips came form “Fred Lindsey”. They were actually looking for spicy Chips that would appeal to the black inner-city Midwest consumer market and were nkt even thinking about the Hispanic market or California at the time at that time since there plain flavored Chicago we’re not big sellers i the Hispanic community. Marketing chief to develop and oversee the project was “Lynne Greenfield who came up with the “flamin hot” name and packaging name and packaging. Fred Lindsey was the first salesman hired by Frito-Lay marketing team and aa Flaming Hot consultant a and the ideas on what flavors, spices and ingredient's woukd appeal to the black consumers in the Midwest they were targeting fir this brand were made by him and a group of 5 other black associates in Chicago and Detroit who would then send there ideas to the marketing team at the Headquarters in Plano, Texas. Richard was not on that consultation board and neither was any other Hispanics. The claim in richards book he created an came up with the idea is alie and his claim Frito-lay was looking for Chios that appealed to the Larino consumer market in California was a lie.

This movie was a shameful exploitation of Chicano tropes and cliches. Even if the story was true, it’s a ridiculous message to draw inspiration from, especially for young chicanos. Drop out of high school, go be a janitor at a plant, and pray that you get rich quick. You’re better off just teaching young chicanos and chicanas to play the lottery. It’s even worse that the movie is made by a Chicana exploiting a Chicano’s lies. It’s trash no matter how much chile y limon you put on it.
