That's why Serie didn't fully agree with Flamme's view of magic. For her, magic is a tool for killing, while Flamme viewed magic as a tool for improving and enjoying life. That is like Science in general too

I love that in the flashback scenes with Flamme it's a more Grecco-Roman culture and fashion. scrolls instead of books, togas and robes instead of pants and shirts, it gives a much better depiction of the passage of time rather than the world being medieval for a thousand years.

True, the roman empire was around before the medieval age (or middle ages) I love when media gets this right as more people wore robes way back then and sandals vs what fashion existed during the medieval times Fun fact, the dark ages are also what the medieval era is referred to as synonymously, despite both time periods being significantly apart. The reason being when the Roman empire fell, it was considered as much as a catastrophic event as if the world were to end. :)

Oh my god this storytelling is so good. What a shock to see a character introduced, aged, and then dying in under a minute. And yet they play an important role for the rest of the story.

Flamme was a one in a million genius.... Flamme is the reason the Human Mage Era even started she was that powerful and influential there is a reason Serie trained her because Serie saw it right away

I love how Atsuko Tanaka ( Flamme's Seiyuu ) is basically the voice picked for strong mages/master figure in anime, like Medea in Fsn, Bayonetta, Lucretia Zola in Campione!, Lisa Lisa in JoJo... lol I don't mind, I love her voice

Something incredible about Flamme is that her unstrained mana was probably as "huge" as Frieren today. Considering that she achieve all of that in human lifespan just show how talented yet genius Flamme was. This also tell the truth about Serie quote that they now approach the age of human and they (Serie and Frieren) will probably be defeated by human in the future. This actually mirror with how mostly of our society and technology was advanced so fast within just few centuries, compared to thousands years before of Human civilization.

We see Frieren's mana but we don't see Flamme's mana. They typically show both if you see one. I also like that Frieren was excited about the flower spell.

I only read the manga in english so i didn't expect she'd be using "omae". Rather than being chill bad ass, i thought she'd be more motherly. Like soft and mellow but powerful

In Japanese here, her speech is very rough and very masculine. Instead of "kudaranai" (not important), she often says "kudaranee", which is definitely the more rude way of saying the same thing. Almost every instance there's a polite way to say things, she's choosing the more crass and informal way of saying it. Almost like choosing to say 'the shitter' or 'loo' rather than 'bathroom'

The thing about the Demon King targeting elves first and trying to kill all of them from the start is that sure, elves live as long as demons so they can be a threat to him, I get that. But it also means that any elf that survives must be an absolute unit like Frieren, Kraft or Serie and the Demon King gave all of these survivors plenty of reasons to hate him and all demons and devote the rest of their very long lives to killing him.

I haven’t read this and don’t know any spoilers but when fern meet serie she says her mana is fluctuating does that mean she’s trying to conceal her true power but hasn’t honed her skills as well and Frieren or flamme or fern? The only time I remember hearing about fluctuations is when they’re concealing mana

yeah serie is restrain her mana. Her restrained mana is still bigger than the actual mana of frieren. Basically concealing mana is a way to deceive demon. Serie already use it but not that intense bcs she think that's unnecessary and wasting of time to mastered it Serie teach flamme and flamme mastered it, and flamme teach frieren, then frieren also mastered it. Fern is special, she just born with talent for concealing mana.

There's a dialogue in the episode 3 or 4 that human magic and elven magic is not that advanced to be able to prove the existence of the soul. Only demon magic is able to do that for now.

Human's magic is actually not that advanced. Spoiler alert . . . . . Human can't even prove existence of soul yet the demon aura using her demon magic is capable of freely using people's soul to be weighed. Human didn't fly not until after himmel's death meanwhile demons and monsters have been flying with magic ever since they've known magic. Many of demon magic can't even be comprehended that some of them are called curses and only goddess magic can counter it. Serie, an even stronger elf mage than frieren and also flamme's master has a spell that can rebound demons magic curses but even it took her a hundred years to learn it. Goddess magic as well. Human still can't understand it and only those with goddess blessing can fully utilize it. It is so difficult, deciphering spell from goddess scripture often take decades and that's just one spell. Out of thousands scriptures, it is estimated that humanity only managed to analyze 3% of the spells speculated to be contained in the scriptures and they are not even sure if there are many more they haven't found yet or if they simply missed some spells in the scriptures. Tl; dr, even in current era, humanity magic is still not that advanced. Let alone 1000 years ago

A bit spoiler. Ability to achieve eternal youth is within the scope of restoration / healing magic. Therefore it comes from Priest class' Goddess Magic. From latest chapters, Goddess Magic can only be discovered by analyzing the cryptography inside the Holy Book/Bible written by The Goddess of Creation herself. And so far, only 3% of the entire magic were discovered within the Bible. So there are still a chance for it to be discovered. To be honest, Goddess Magic is very overpowered. It spans from restoration, healing, soul manipulation, even it can transcends time and space (the reason why Frieren somehow can time travel is because of Goddess Magic).

Frieren would probably wipe both of them. But its hard to compare as the frieren universe is much more focussed on battles as the magus bride one is more about harmony... They dont have elaborate demon killing magic as a Standart spell

@@davidedmondson8839 I just wanted frieren to reunite with fern and stark and was hoping no more enemies would get in the way of that reunion, I just randomly and accidentally assumed flamme would be just as bad as the demon girl aura. I’m sorry flamme for judging you as an evil enemy. I realize I was wrong about you Don’t worry, I know she’s her teacher who taught her magic and made her who she is today
