Naturally, as soon as I publish this video, the NHL finally released the jerseys OFFICIALLY! I’ll have a new video on that soon. Let me ask you... should I do a ✨ranking✨ of all the Adidas Winter Classic designs? Any interest in that?

Here's my take on this video: The Kraken's Winter Classic sweater is not that bad but could be better. Instead of using three colors for the stripes, two would've been significant (both shades of blue). The Golden Knights' Winter Classic sweater is simple and straightforward. For those who don't know; the "V" logo doesn't mean Vegas, it's Valor. A "V" device on a ribbon represents exceptional bravery. Team owner Bill Foley is a West Point graduate. Kudos to the Hurricanes for continuing to maintain the legacy of the Hartford Whalers. Adding Pucky the Whale and wearing Cooperalls (only for pre-game warm-up) is pure genius. Seeing the Maple Leafs wearing blue helmets with their whites does make for a good combination. If I remember, the first time I saw this was with the Colorado Avalanche during the beginning of the 1995-96 season, their inaugural year in Denver. They wore black helmets with their whites throughout the preseason and early in the regular season. The logo for the 2024 Stadium Series is nice. Using the Devils' original color scheme for the outline of the state of New Jersey makes a great statement. I know that it's long but hopefully it helps answer some of the questions that everyone may ask.

These videos always are they best they can be. Also I can’t wait to see the future of PWHL jerseys. Will they keep a universal theme across all teams going forward. Work marks are lame, but it’s cool how to the whole league has one look. You won’t be able to see a PWHL game and not know immediately what league it is!

THIS is what the Kraken should have done with their RR 2.0. I love how they went back to the metropolitans look.

There's a guy in the Seattle area who filed the copyright registrations for the Metropolitans name, logo, and jersey design, and his intention has clearly been to profit from those marks, which is why the Kraken and Adidas worked around them instead of going directly with a Metropolitans jersey. Adding red stripes would take it closer to that Metros jersey, which could be problematic - my guess is that they ran this stuff past the copyright lawyers during the design phase.

The more I look at the Vegas jersey the more it grows on me. I liked the Seattle one from the start, although I see your point with the colors. There's no way that wasn't a planned "leak" though.

It was inevitable that the Kraken would bring in a barberpole design, but they dropped the ball by not using the Metropolitans' original colours - although, as I have stated before in a previous video, the Leicester Tigers might have said something about that. I'm also intrigued by the news concerning the PWHL - I wonder who's making the jerseys? And the Canes are releasing yet another Whalers jersey?? Are they desperate to go back to Hartford?

I think this should be Seattle's branding and primary jersey, absolutely fantastic! The ice blue really pops and the logo is a great callback to the Metropolitans. Great blending of past and present. A white away jersey with ice blue and navy blue stripes with the red S would look so clean. Couldn't disagree more about adding more red, they'll just become another Winnipeg or Columbus... boring.

Regarding the Kraken logo... I actually don't like that Maple Leafs and Lightning have different color logo for home and away. A successful logo should look good on any background and can be readable I'd it's in black and white.

Seeing the two contrast on the AEW clip makes me think of "is the dress black+blue/white+gold " picture meme

In the 80’s Utah Jazz played home games in Vegas!! Matter of fact, when Kareem became the all time scoring leader, it was vs the Jazz In Vegas! They should have had the Jazz wear the Vegas jerseys!

I completely agree with you. I’m not a fan of these jerseys. The Seattle one has tiny lettering spelling out the team name, whereas outdoor games typically feature oversized details that can be seen from a distance in a large stadium. And the Vegas crest has an awkward lack of detail and the point at the bottom seems too sharp for my liking. It looks as if a youth team tried to come up with a logo in the spirit of (but without the trademark rights to) the Vegas Golden Knights.

At first, I liked that Kraken WC mockup jersey you showed a lot. But then, I realized that with the blue being so dark it almost looks black, it just looked like the Ottawa Senators' Heritage jersey from a decade ago

Aside from the vintage white, I don't mind the WC jersey designs much. Maybe the Kraken striping could've been done better, maybe, and the Vegas jersey does feel a bit overly plain, but I don't think they're outright bad. I've never been a fan of the "vintage white" either. It usually ends up making the jersey look dingy and dirty. It's always looked the worst to me with navy jerseys - the Penguins' 2011 WC jerseys, the Rangers' Reebok-era thirds, and the Blue Jackets' thirds just never look right to me because of the off-white trim (I even remember comparing the Pens' unis to being coffee-stained!). Where yellow/"athletic" gold is used, when vintage white is a trim color (e.g. the 2010 Bruins WC unis), it's a lot harder to notice. But my least favorite use of vintage white was the 2014 Red Wings WC unis, especially since they went up against a Maple Leafs uni that went with proper white trim with their blue, and it made the Wings' unis look that much worse by comparison (though I wasn't exactly a fan of that design overall anyway).

I like Seattle's uniform, but I honestly would have liked to see a 1 to 1 replica of the barber pole Metropolitans jersey. I thought it was unique when the Canadiens did it. I struggle with Vegas because they really don't have much of a hockey history, but I'm negatively biased towards them anyways so, Seattle gets the W lmaooo.

I think both jerseys are fine. I don’t have too many issues with them. Although I do agree, I didn’t understand the oatmeal color for the Kraken. I didn’t think it was necessary. And yeah they could’ve used their other blue color, probably would worked better. I bet their number kit is going to be red too. Maybe just me, but does the negative space between the V on Vegas’s jersey look like it’s in the shape of the metal/tip of a spear?

If the PWHL needs time to flesh out their branding, then they shouldn't have bought out other women's leagues and tried to rush to start this year. Completely botched the launch of the league and I think it's going to make what was already going to be an uphill battle to get viewership even harder.

I was wondering why the Wings had Fastenal on their helmets instead of Meijer. I'm glad their typical buckets at least use a red ad logo, hate seeing these ads that clash with the branding.

Honestly we used to call this gorilla marketing- this is a welcome change from the NHL’s normally bland promotional strategy. I’m going to the give Seattle’s jersey the benefit of the doubt- let’s see how it looks with number and name plates- hopefully it puts it all together. As for Vegas, meh, I see the West Pointe reference but other than that- where the Vegas glam?

Rangers released the schedule for the 3rd jerseys and the games they will be worn in, but the winter classic date was not on the schedule so hopefully we get a fourth because that navy blue 3rd jersey is horrendous imo . The stripes on the sleeves are terrible and the shield takes up the entire chest

What's even more egregious is the fact that Adidas just took Dallas' Winter Classic jersey and swapped out the colors for Vegas' color template. Very bland and un-inspiring. I would like the Seattle jersey more if they committed fully to the barber-pole design instead of just hinting at it. That move would have also helped distinguish it from the Ottawa Senators heritage uniforms, which are strikingly similar. I wonder if the same design team that works on the Adidas uniforms is the same one that worked on the Reeboks, and that will work on the Fanatics? - After all, it's all the same parent company, right? I was told by an insider that the only thing changing about the upcoming NHL Jerseys will be the "Fanatics" logo instead of "Adidas" but the jersey system and materials will all go unchanged.

I vote Adidas has given up. They dont have a contract moving forward so why not swing and miss on everything this year.

The PWHL Montreal team SHOULD be called Canadiennes, just like they were in the Canadian Womens Hockey League!! Just for the lols! Boston should also reinstate the Boston Pride name Toronto Sixes should be brought back, in a way anyway! New York Liberty or Libertys/Liberties? Named for obvious reasons Ottawa Nationals? Possibly after the team on the same name of the World Hockey Association Minnesota Whitecaps named for the same team of the former Premier Hockey Federation Those are my thoughts anyway, I would also like to hear from anyone their ideas for team names and better yet, team names AND locations!!! Just fer fun!

They had to go red!!! They even use red in the eyes of the “normal Kraken” so it’s not like red isn’t used at all in the normal Kraken sweaters. I love it personally. Also so sad they did the Ladies so dirty. Like they really couldn’t afford graphic designers? Shit I know bunch of people would’ve done it for free, especially if they made it some kind of contest. Like it makes 0 sense to me… Just diagonal words marks? Really? And the names they created are so bad. Only Wicked and Superior are good ones.

So, if the league just approved road teams wearing dark helmets as long as they don't clash - does that mean the Hurricanes had to get special permission last year? Or did the Leafs have to themselves get league permission?

I honestly love the Seattle jersey and its the Vegas one I find boring. Just a speculation here, we are in the last year of Adidas making the jerseys, they might've have reduced the budget or the amount of people working on them and that's we are getting more simple and blend jerseys?

As a Kraken fan, I’ve become more cynical about the branding. It annoys me to no end that there is no white whatsoever in the jersey and logo. You need to have some balance to make everything pop and work together, which is why I really like the Winter Classic jersey. In terms of the bordering, it doesn’t work for the Kraken because the boarder is too big. On a dark blue background, the logo feels wiry and in pieces. If they maybe had a small white trim with the dark blue outline, I think it’ll look better.

As a lifelong Whalers fan…New England in the WHA and Hartford in the NHL, I can’t stand the reinvention of Whalers merchandise. Chris, please remind everyone the H is for Hartford. Perhaps the Hurricanes can look to the Ice Caps, Clippers etc for future third unis.
