I use to like the old fashion style , locally owned fish and chip shops in Australia that also served hamburgers , The hamburgers were cooked on a open grill using all fresh ingredients , nothing out of the deep freeze like modern day fast food chains and the old fashion shops would peel and cut their own potato chips and the fish was fresh and battered or crumbed in their own premises and they would give you a really good serve of chips at an excellent price , wrapped up in white paper

Its not by accident, Taylors the maker of the machines have exclusive maintenance contracts on the machines which creates little incentive to fix them in a timely manor (would mean hiring more workers) or to ensure that they dont break in the first place. Taylors makes 20% of their profit from recurring maintenance fees. Thats why the machines always broken

The Big Macs are now the size of your hand! I REMEMBER the days, in the good old 00s, their Big Macs where bigger than your mouth. What's more, every time I went to Maccas as a Gen Zeder, they would always fill up your fries and drink all the way up above the line on the cups. Now I call them Little Macs now, that happened so that the 2nd Geners can fit it in their mouth easily. Not old school nowadays, I just go there for snacks

Does anyone remember the McDonald's in the basement of the Hoyts Cinema Complex, George St Sydney ? It opened in the late 70s, and departed in the early 2000s. But hardly any videos or pictures exist of it. Please do share your memories if you have them, as it was the LARGEST outlet in the Sydney Metro Area during this time (not to be confused with the one across the road in the former Hoyts Plaza Building).

$7.50 for something that has 80 cents worth of ingredients in it . Most McDonald's food is marked up 300% to 1000% Supermarkets sell one kilogram packets of frozen potato fries for $2. while McDonald's will sell you around 50 grams of cooked fries for around $2.75 or $54 a kilo and McDonald will sell you a small soft drink in a cup for around $2.50 while at the supermarket , the same amount in a 1.25 litre bottle will cost you about 20 cents for 250 mil serving. Once I went to McDonald's in the morning and order a toasted cheese and tomato sandwich called a toastie and the assistant said to me '' that there would be a delay with the order because the product was in the deep freeze and had to be defrosted before being heated to serve '' , since then I have never returned to their stores .

Pretty sure the first one in Melbourne was in Sydney road Fawkner 🍔🍟🍔 Not sure if it’s still there.

*Checks Google Maps ;-) * Since the one on the corner of Sydney and Mahoneys Roads is listed as Fawkner II, I presume it was either relocated or rebuilt at some point. As for the first one in Melbourne, it was actually the one in Glen Waverley, which opened in 1973, and that one was rebuilt several years back too. :-)
@aussie8114
@aussie8114 2 жыл бұрын
@@EamonThePhilogynistWalford Yes Wikipedia says Glen Waverley. I thought Fawkner was the first one. It was one of the first ones. It was about 100 metres back from the Mahoneys road intersection from memory. The one on the corner now, having looked at Google earth, is not the original one. And I’m pretty sure it’s not the original location either but I may be wrong. It was a LONG time ago 🍔

Way better than McDonald’s in the US for real. I remember going to Macca’s in Sydney and Adelaide in the late 1990s (I travelled around Australia for about five months) and the food was better tasting and was better quality. Portions were larger also.

I work in the meat industry working on industrial meat grinders. Id eat maccas beef patties over tek foods kebab meat which supppy 90% of kebab shops AU. But again in moderation a kabab is fine. Only lazy people are going to eat quick easy unhealthy food to often.
