He almost came to Swansea in 2011. As a Swansea fan I was praying this would happen. He was 33 but he'd still have been a great pick up. But then a UAE team offered him a bunch of cash so he went there.

Just imagine him and Henry both playing up front. Insane.

I don’t need to imagine, I remember that very well. Their partnership was disastrous at the WC 2002. They scored 0 goals and ended up last in the group vs Denmark, Senegal and Uruguay. Henry was particularly bad at that World Cup (he was sent off in the first half vs Uruguay). 2 years later their partnership continues at the Euro 2004. They were invisible vs England, but Trezeguet scored a crucial goal vs Croatia for 2:2 (second match in the group). Their terrible partnership ended up in quarter-finals vs Greece (0:1). As I said before, I always prefer Trezeguet (in front of masterful Zidane) instead of Henry. Wiltord-Trezeguet was their best forward combo bmho. They proved that in the EURO 2000 final vs Italy, but for some reasons Trezeguet was usually a substitute despite the fact that he is the French forward with the best minutes/goals ratio at that time. All of them (Henry, Guivarch, Dugarry, Wiltord, Saha, Anelka, Benzema…) were less efficient. Trezeguet was pissssed off by that fact (despite being in a great form) especially after being overlooked for some Euro 2008 qualifying matches by coach Domenech. In 2008 Trezeguet was selected for a friendly against England to replace the injured Benzema, which would turn out to be his last appearance for France as he was subsequently not chosen for the EURO 2008 squad. At that championship France was terrible without him and ended up last in the group (with almighty Henry, Benzema and Anelka). If you ask me Trezeguet is the best French forward (after Mbappe) in last 30 years. Criminally underrated.

Awesome stuff - really enjoyed this video! Always thought Trezeguet was a bit under appreciated despite his incredible achievements. PS: You know, there's a video to be made about that Hércules CF team from 2010/2011 which contained Trez and if memory serves me right, Nelson Valdez and Royston Drenthe. 3 legitimate international stars.... and a bunch of park lads - but they took it La Liga that season 👍

The greatest none Italian player to play for juve and that alone is big statement juve had John Charles , Omar saviori, platini , zidane , dybala, tevez, and cristiano Ronaldo yet all of them as 23 years old players I will choose David trezagoal not gonna lie I love zizou so much but David just for going to the division with us and being our all time foreign top scorer he is our goat plus I thank him for 2006 penalty miss lol viva trezagoal

Although I hate Juventus (from the bottom of my heart) I always prefered Trezegol over Titi in the national team. France would never have won the World Cup 98 and EURO 2000 without David.
@sargonsblackgrandfather20723 ай бұрын
Dunno about 98, he hardly played in that. France at the World Cup we’re famous for not having any great strikers, David was still too young and Henry was still a winger
@andjelkozlotvor3 ай бұрын
@@sargonsblackgrandfather2072 Did you even watched this video? His contribution at WC98 was even more important because France had a mediocre forwards (Dugarry, Guivarch and young Henry). Yes, Trezegoal was very young but he came from the bench in a group stage vs Saudi Arabia (when Zidane was sent off) and scored a goal, then he earned a penalty vs Denmark, but his most important contribution was genius assist for Blan’s golden goal vs Paraguay in round of 16 (Henry was invisible at that match as a CF). He also scored a penalty in incredibly difficult match vs super strong Italy (quarter finals).

He was better than Henry for a brief period early on. Not that he had a higher ceiling overall but he was effective from a young age with his height and stability whereas Henry hadn't figured out his best position yet.

Very inconsistent striker. Scored great goals, but not always a great goal scorer. Somehow not getting near the 200 goals mark for Juventus feels like injustice relative to his talent.

138 goals in 245 appearances. He averaged more than Del Piero who scored 208 in 513 appearances

@@iheanyitorridity9403 Alex was a SS cum playmaker for Juventus not a no9 and 138 in 245 underlines my point. So I'm not sure what you're trying to get at?

Why didn’t he play for Argentina if he wasn’t starting for France in his prime? He clearly identified as an Argentine is some respect going to River Plate.

Lol because he featured at the world cup for France when he was twenty. Do you not know how international football works?
