Been carrying a rema patch kit, park boot, and park glueless patches. Also at least 1 spare tube even when riding tubeless. I am going to grab some old tires from the recycling at work and make some boots. As a technician the other thing I would tell people to carry is a spare quick link because re-connecting a chain with the chain breaker on a multi tool is a pain. I keep a bunch of spare quick links for all my chain sizes in my flat kit. I ride with both C02, and a mini pump.

Hello Emily - thanks for watching! I carry a frame pump, CO2's and DynaPlug tool as well. This was a tire video but I do endorse your recommendation of chain repair items with you! Thanks for the chain link tip. I do carry those as well. I am only on 11 speed throughout my 9 or 10 road worthy bikes to include my GRX 11 speed mechanical. Please consider subscribing if you are not subscribed yet :-) We need more women on this channel!!

@@SeeYouUpTheRoad Another good thing to carry is a presta to schrader adapter for getting air from gas station inflators. I need to look at dyna plugs, I have a generic tubeless plug tool with bacon strips.

Yes! For those long rides, a tube, a tire, and needed tools of course. In that tube, have the proper dosage of flat attack sealant. Or carry in a sealed travel safe container.

Never tried a boot good idea. I have ridden home with a ripped sidewall & slow leak. I never leave home without two tubes. I may add a boot to my tool set.

I glue the largest patch I can inside the tyre, should rough it up a bit first, works for small- medium sized cuts, but I would take a section of tyre with me for longer events

A tubeless patch? I’ve tried that and it didn’t work. I have a Rene Herse tire sitting in my shop with the tube bulging through the patch.😢

Agree with earlier post. I always carry all the necessary tools and tubes for an emergency. My husband and I go round and round about the number of spare tubes. ❤❤ Nice pro tip😊 I have not use a tire boot. I am riding tubeless.😊 So far I have not used anything outside a tube if I do have a flat.

Ha Ha I struggle with a logical forecast of how many flats will I get and how many spare tubes to carry. I go with 2 butyl for standard century and below riding. Then I carry 2 more in the TPU style for century plus riding because they are so small and compact. I know I can patch the two butyl tubes. As you know I ride my brevets for time so I would rather keep replacing tubes until they are all flat. By the time that happens I am no longer going to be anywhere near my target time or my plan B or plan C and I can calmly sit on the side of the road and start repairing tubes. Hopefully while I am consuming a hot meal and a cold beverage. That would be A LOT of flats -- tubeless flats that didn't seal then butyl tubes then TPU tubes :-)

I have used in the past $5 notes, Labels torn from my jersey and now normally carry boots cut from indestructible or tear proof paper. I seem to have fewer tyre cuts last few years, I think because of lower pressures needed in wider tyres.

Black reinforced scotch tape designed to plug hoses, that can be found on about every gas station, is what I can recommend in such emergencies. However a ripped tires is at least for me a very rare occurrence. I don't prepare for it.

The example I gave about Charlie was he/we were 22 miles away from open roads. We were on closed mountain road and even on the bike it took 90 minutes to get back down the mountain with all the climbing up down up down. And no gas stations anywhere near once you get off the mountain. I like your suggestion though I would have a gel wrapper much more likely than having to find a store. I have cut tires MANY times in just the last 20 years … MANY times.

@@SeeYouUpTheRoad In the country where I live and ride there is a gas station once about every 10km maybe 20km maximum. However once I just used part of a polypropylen battle to patch a ripped tire wall when commuting to work and in a hurry to do something about it. You know those are "almost universally available" along any road. Almost anything will do the job. Of course a small knife is a must have when biking.

I've recently switched to TPU inner tubes and travel with 2 spare TPU tubes and 1 park tool tire boot. I've been looking for a TPU patch kit in local shops, but they seem to be hard to come by.

Good hints!! Do you glue that "homemade" boot on to the damaged tire, or just place it there and let the inflated tube hold it in place. Thanks
