Flexible substrates are the most difficult to repair when a flat surface is needed. Here are some tips for you while I'm fixing an automobile armrest.

This was reminiscent of the science class movies we watched in elementary school. I loved it! Super informative. You did a great job of explaining every step. Thanks!

There are people in your business who settle for "ridges" remaining in the vinyl after they've repaired it, stating not only wrong reasons for the damage but that the damage was so severe and that's why the ridges remain. Such people could really learn a thing or two from your techniques. You don't ever settle for second best.

Well not all repairs turn out like we like them to. But the idea is to have techniques well in mind and then have the conviction to take the time to try to do it right. Thanks, and I'm glad you find the videos helpful.

ha, that last hint was the best. you can also ask someone who hasn't seen the repair to try to spot it. they won't.

Beautiful job! It’s always nice to see a true craftsman at work. I have a high back office chair that has cracks that opened up on the seat and on the armrests and I’ve been thinking about trying to fix it. Unfortunately it’s pretty extensive. Any suggestions?

I'm gonna see if I can purchase the tools and try that myself on my 2005 Cadillac Escalade arm rest, I've tried upholstery shops but they tell me to get the armrest at the junkyard, all I have is a one inch slit on the armrest. Thanks I'll try that 👍
@a.r.t.srealrepairsforrealc8247
@a.r.t.srealrepairsforrealc8247 9 ай бұрын
Bad advice from the shops. Many upholstery shops are ordering the slip covers for the armrests available online. They are cheap, look good, and save the shop time. Also it can be difficult to sew the tight radius these armrests require. But with a special machine setup (most shops don't have) it can be done more easily. Buy it online, slip it on, done.

Good video, as others said I don’t have the tools you have. I need to repair my peeling headboard. I came across your video and the technique you used look better and professionally done. So how can I go that to my headboard without taking it apart which I just can’t do myself? Can you please make a video on peeling headboard”s BUT ALSO can you share which home tool substitute electric tools to use to make the repairs with?

You are exactly right. This channel is for the mobile repair tech. It highlights all the teaching and innovations I have given the business over 40 years. Made public because 99% are not bothering to further their education and the business is suffering as a result of it. Now the public can demand this higher standard.

@@02au17 no. I have improvised. I find it so odd that despite asking for help the response is sorry this is only for professionals. Well..what do you do when you are trying to become a professional and you reach out to someone for advice and they say sorry kid. This is why handcrafts die. Senior craftsmen need to do a better job of being more open to teaching those new to the craft! I love this gentleman's work and watch his videos but it's just a shame he doesn't see himself as a mentor. This is social media. He can be pushing the next generation forward.
