The old vendor malls have new management and fresh stock here in Owensboro, Kentucky, and we're ready to score some bargains! Since the town's venerable antique mall shut down, the vendor malls have become the place where antique, vintage and used good resellers go to ply their wares. What will we find there now?
Our first stop is T&T Vendor Mall, where a new owner is bringing new life to this old vintage haunt. This is the deal place, where Xeno finds an Otagiri plump cat jar for under $7 and I'm tempted by everything from 1910s slag glass lamps to 1980s dining room sets! People are still moving in, and we see (and hear) 1910s American oak and walnut antique furniture being reassembled as we comb through spaces full of mid-century glass and tableware, chuckle at the 1970s version of Stanley's 'big dumb cup' and a Stranger Things cat box (seriously?), and learn the purpose of Vernier calipers.
We grab our finds and head down the block to Consumer Mall, the more established of the two vendor malls. This place seems to be where antiques and vintage have gone, with an 1890s wine flagon on a marble table greeting us in the first space! From Blenko glass to 1930s Czech wall pockets, this place has the selection, and some of it is pretty cheap (we pay $2 for a Houze Art tray and buy from a space dedicated to helping animals). We contemplate the ease of replacing the contents of a cheaply priced 1870s cave d'liqueur, then explore Toyminator, a giant section in the middle of the mall dedicated to playthings of many generations!
From the cheap to the fancy, the bizarre to the esoteric, vendor malls are always fun to explore, and we're glad to take you to these rapidly evolving sources of antique and vintage goodness!

Good evening, George. I've always liked the old chain and ball hanging light fixture shades. I had several of them in the house I had that burned. That oak table was nice. I have one with the scrolled Empire feet...never cared much for the claw feet. Those carts, like the aluminium one, make great TV stands. The bottom shelves work quite well to hold cable boxes, DVD players, etc. I have an old farm table with the black and white enamel top. It has the flatware drawer in it, too. That 1880s marble-topped walnut table is definitely my vibe. That reed organ was a beauty, but they are costly to redo. I have a Mason and Hamlin one I had redone years ago, and it sounds great. If they're redone correctly, you can keep them going with only one foot. Geese in bows...I think not 😂 I wish I had space for one of the old wood butter churns. I'd love to find a 1961 Cadillac hearse, either Matchbox or Hot Wheels. I've only ever seen one. There are some really nice and interesting items in those malls. Thanks for taking us along shopping with you!

Hello my friend! I always like those as well, they remind me of church at a young age. I prefer Empire personally as well! Those carts truly have much utility, but the marble top is prettier. How much was it to restore a reed organ? All but one person was against the blue ribbon geese revival...but she will have a great selection from which to choose! I want a real Caddy hearse, but you're right that the die-cast version is also scarce. I'm glad you got to take a little time and have fun with me!
@CONSTELLATION_PEGASUS
@CONSTELLATION_PEGASUS Ай бұрын
@@TheAntiqueNomad I think it cost me nearly $1,000.00 to get my reed organ restored. It's been 15 or 20 years since I had it done, so I don't remember the exact amount. For me, it was well worth it, though. I love the sound of it. Oooo...those blue bow geese. I didn't like those things when they first became popular. I used to have a 1969, fully-windowed Caddy hearse. I was having to keep it at a friend's house because I was in an apartment at the time. When they moved, I sold it. That thing was like driving the USS Nimitz 😂 It was MASSIVE. I'd really like to find a Matchbox or Hot Wheels 1961 Caddy hearse. This premier was a very welcome one! Monday, the 20th, marked three-months, and yesterday, the 21st, was her birthday. The past couple days have been _extremely_ difficult. I managed to watch the Monday premier, and I was thankful for the brief distraction then, too. It's always great to see a premier from you!

Nice CB jargon glass. We grew up in that era and we all had our own handles, too. My father built and hoisted an enormous tower in the front yard...got in trouble not long after as the neighbors complained about the interference.

Hi George and Xeno! 👋 This is a fun journey. I have noticed the sellers in Vegas are having decent sales with amber glass. Esp the coin pattern. If the canister set was in good shape I bet if you highlight it on a sale it will do well. Instinct 🙃😉 it's all I have. Lol I wouldn't mind having one of the older choppers. Something about the way beef is ground after freezing the plastic choppers just clog up on me. Both of those malls look like fun. And having Xeno along us always a pleasure. Xeno, tell the truth why are you so quiet during shopping videos? Is George mean to you or are you suddenly shy?! 😅😅❤

Interesting to hear about amber moon & stars, it's been slow in Kentucky in that color. I'll have to try selling it live. Lol, I promise I'm not mean to Xeno (usually), but the vintage is more my thing, his interests are more specific so he goes through a place faster than me

There is no double vanity in the master bathroom, and the kitchen was small for a custom house of that size. That sunroom may have been the formal dining room, maybe? The small den was probably an office, as was one of the bedrooms upstairs. They may have had more than one small business. Maybe a traditional counseling style business and maybe their kid had another modern type they may have started to showcase on social media, hence the tripod. The basement was probably becoming the overflow spot for shipping out whatever they were peddling. KZfaq started in 2005, so as it grew, so did a lot of businesses. Idk. It seems like the house was built very specific to their needs. Maybe they didn't do a lot of entertaining. It doesn't seem like it was a married couple either. The Floorplan was a little awkward and not well thought out. But, the glass blocks get you to react the way I like to see you, so there's that. I must say I love how every time you opened a door to the hackyard, the sounds of nature were beautiful. I love the sound of birds being birds.
