I too am a member of the Garden Congregation and just watched the last episode....now I am scouring the internet for any other videos, I just don't know how I am going to have a richer day without the wisdom of the Dean. The best teacher ever! I have ordered books and CDs about things he has mentioned, I have been out of school for a long time now, and the Dean has given me such an education on other matters than the Bible, it is the complete package! Please, please, we are praying that somehow the Garden Congregation can get new daily prayers!

I am watching this 5 years later on the last day of Dean Robert's Garden Congregation. I began watching the Morning Prayer after I graduated from General Theological Seminary. At home now I have watched each day around 10:00 AM as I am a late riser. I bonded with the Dean when our choir was spending a week at the Cathedral in 2019. He was and is the personification of welcome. I hope to bring this welcome to the parishes I may be sent by our Bishop here in Minnesota as a Vocational Deacon. I cannot say enough about the grief and loss I feel as I seek an alternative but I know I will not find the education of the Scripture we have heard. Such gratitude to Dean Willis.

Linda, I too, in Houston Tx, am grieving the end of The Garden Congregation. I was blessed by being able to watch every single time from about the third week. It has left a large hole in my spiritual life that I fear will be hard to fill. I'm a regular Episcopalian - choir singing - active as I can be (at 91) but Dean Robeert has been so special. Thanks to God for 'knowing' him. Ophelia Pujol

Keith Getty and Stuart Townend have written the most significant songs - words that touch our spirit as though it’s the Holy Spirit. In fact the Getty’s rebirth some of our best hymns, desperately needed eg., All Creatures of our God and King lift up your voice and, with us, sing Alleluja, Alleluja!

As a fire survivor of October 8, 2017, it was the strength of hymns that led me through one of the most awful experiences of my life. My only point of reference for total devastation were the photos of Hiroshima after the atom bomb was detonated. At great peril to my own personal safety, since California Highway Patrol officers were stationed at key areas and had directions to taser-arrest-handcuff ask questions later, I began the walk back into the neighborhood that once was home. The gray of both sky and earth, a deafening silence, punctuated by innumerable small fires from leaking gas lines. "A mighty fortress is our God..." Nothing more as my thoughts were so fractured. "and though this world with devils filled...." A few more steps still with fractured thoughts. "....should threaten to undo us." The unrecognizable ruins of where my home had stood required three times walking by to be sure of my orientation. I spent time and can't even really remember how long it was. As I was getting ready to leave, one of the most glorious sunsets I have ever seen caused me to look up. Then I heard, Balfour Gardiner's Evening Hymn "Thee Lord, we call at close of day...." There were no tears because my experience went far beyond. Nor was I discouraged. There were no feelings that I had then nor even recall now. Then I started hearing a song that was a favorite of my grandmother's: "Great is Thy faithful, Oh God my father, there is now shadow of turning with thee, Thou changest not Thy compassions they fail not.....Lord unto me." Over the next days, weeks, months, it wasn't the words of scripture that came to me except as they were recalled through many different hymns--and it was the reality of God's care and provision as found through hymns that were my most important source of strength. Dean Willis, you are indeed a treasure, and this lecture is one that I will listen to again and again.

47:24 for "Love the wedding guest" Love spoke the word and by that word pure water turned to wine, Creating at the wedding feast Love's first redemptive sign, For by that sign of water changed, humanity was blessed, Able to share the selfsame love, through Love the wedding guest. Love saw the need when wine ran dry, the wine cup to refill, Met human need with his own life and meets that longing still, For as at Cana on that day, two human lives were blessed, So riches blessings we receive from Love the wedding guest. Love joins the feast to celebrate where love is freely given, Creating from our human love the quality of heaven. So shall our life and love mature like wine pronounced the best, Transformed to that which is divine, by Love the wedding guest.

Mr. Dean, Thanks for your lecture -dear old Songs of Praise which I used in Assemblies in 3 schools in which i taught. Wonderful collection for young people, but so sad now that assemblies in state schools are a thing of the past. Also note your Baptist links as a boy. I have so much to be grateful for re Baptist denomination -see my Book "Music All the Way" with a chapter on Hereford where we last met in my days as Supernumary under Roy Massey. I hope you really get to see this response which I came to view only on Ash Wednesday, March 2nd, 2022. Dean Robert you have such an Inspiration to me and my Sister that we have adopted you as our brother( forgive me for taking such a liberty) since the onset of the garden congregation. My Sister who is now ninety years old, and sadly is in palliative care in England, also loves hymns and taught us many lovely ones which we would gather around the piano and sing with her, as Children. You also brought back many lovely memories of our school days in St Vincent, West Indies- where we grew up while attending The Girl’s High School staffed by British teachers and a British head mistress. We are both in our seventies now and have lived in Canada for over 40 years. I just want to say that this wonderful video was indeed a blessing to me and I will pass it on to my Sister Pearl. We love your beautiful furry friends and have been cat lovers ourselves. Thanks for these lovely memories! Your talent for music and literature is quite astounding, and we look forward to tomorrow’s morning prayer in the garden. Best regards.
