When the band was inducted into the RnR Hall of Fame, past and present members of Mac were inducted, but Bob Welch was left out: "My era was the bridge era," Welch said. "It was a transition. But it was an important period in the history of the band. Mick Fleetwood dedicated a whole chapter of his biography to my era of the band and credited me with 'saving Fleetwood Mac'. Now they want to write me out of the history of the group. It hurts... Mick and I co-managed the group for years. I'm the one who brought the band to Los Angeles from England, which put them in the position of hooking up with Lindsey and Stevie. I saw the band through a whole period where they barely survived."

I love how Bob Welch half-talks half-sings the words to the song. And his guitar work is just impeccable.

Oh, yeah. Closing in on my favorite version of Fleetwood Mac. This one has Bob Welch on vocals. I LOVED this band before Nicks and Buckingham, and found them just a decent pop band after the two of them joined the band. This also is after the founder and phenomenal blues guitarist, Peter Greene, left the band. **wrote all this before listening

This is my favorite Fleetwood-Mac tune. Mick Fleetwood and John McVie are an incredible rhythm team. They are the core of the band Fleetwood-Mac, essentially. John married Christie, who was their keyboard player almost from the start. But, Mick and John came from the Bluesbreakers with Peter Green on lead guitar. Peter left and they got Bob Welch as a guitar player. He played on this album. Then, after Bob left, they recruited Lindsey Buckingham for lead, but he refused to join the band unless his girlfriend also became a member, Stevie Nicks. This was essentially the last incarnation of Fleetwood-Mac, and each version had its distinct personality. To appreciate Mick and John's ability to lay down a vibe, listen to Werewolves Of London by Warren Zevon, and read the story of how it was finally recorded

The cover was drawn by Tommy Eccles in a bedsit in Liverpool in the early 1970s. I was at school with Tommy and he moved to Liverpool after his degree, living in a flat below me. It took him a long time to do the drawing and he was paid very little for his amazing art work.

The late, great, Bob Welch on lead guitar and vocals, that era of Fleetwood Mac is sadly underrated by casual fans, as we know who they think of for this band, but the era before that with Bob and Christine McVie on vocals was also outstanding, this band always had 'it', all the way back to the beginning with Peter Green on great blues leads. Shout out to Mick Fleetwood on drums and John McVie on bass who have been together since John Mayall's Blues Breakers back in the mid 70s, they are one of the greatest rhythm sections of all time. Try from the classic album, Bare Trees, do Homeward Bound, Christine is on point in her disdain of the road while on tour and this is a killer song about it. Great band in every era, enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎹🎶

Perhaps my favorite of all their tunes, it is certainly the one to feature from this album. Many of us North Carolinians have adopted the song as a state anthem of sorts. Earlier songs from "Future Games" and "Bare Trees" would be a cool follow-up. The title tunes are great, but so are "Show Me a Smile", "Sunny Side of Heaven", "Woman of a Thousand Years", "Sentimental Lady" and many others. Great reaction. Love the drums too and Bob's cool voice. RIP.

You would absolutely love even earlier versions of Fleetwood Mac, even before Christine McVie. Pure blues rock - Peter Green era - try The Green Manaleshi. Iconic. Harder. Blues Rock with just a bit of psych! Another solid blues track with the unmistakable “of the time” vibe - The Sun Is Shining. Perfect example of the blues messin’ with your head, in the very best way of course!

The original FM was Britain's best blues band. The founder, Peter Green wrote "Black Magic Woman" in the 60's. Santana had the big hit of it a few years later. Bob's first solo album is one of my all-time favorite albums. It features his hit "Ebony Eyes". Check that one out.

Stevie Nix, and Lyndsy Buckingham were both a couple business wise as in they were a duo in making music, and they were lovers/ Boy and girlfriend as ell, before Mick Fleetwood came to Los Angles from England, to try and find a replacement for Peter Green, of the original Fleetwood Mac. That is one hell of a story in itself. (Peter Green). He was kidnapped in Germany, as he and the Band were getting off the plane to do their Gig there. You read or watch the documentary of what happened for yourself. He (Green) was never the same mentally. I Love the original Fleetwood Mac as much or more than thee 70s version. The early Band of the 60s was a great Blues Band.

This version of Fleetwood Mac with Bob Welch is pretty much considered a second generation version. The band as it were before him were led by a guy called Peter Green. Their big hit was probably Oh Well, Part 1 & 2. If you listen to it, be sure to do the version that has both parts. It's 8:56 minutes long but it goes by quick. It still gets a lot of play on Classic Rock stations.

@@silgen I'm recommending what I know. If they were not hits in the US, played on the radio here, I don't know them that well. But if I were only talking about the US, I would have said Oh Well was the only hit. I have all the albums now, but I didn't back in 1968. I don't really connect with Albatross. But fine if UK people like it. My post is about Oh Well. If you think there is a better choice to recommend, fine. I don't know why you are using my post to recommend it.

That's Bob Welch on vocals. He had a few hits on his own with Ebony eyes and sentimental lady in the late '70s. I actually met him and talk to him for about two hours at a a perfect circle concert one night. Tim and his wife Wendy. He was a good guy and really a great guitarist. It's extremely lost him about 15 years ago now. So this is always been referred to in my house as the Bob Welch era of Fleetwood Mac 🙂

It really is quite amazing how one or two individuals can help to create a bands "signature" sound. And if something should happen, how thoroughly it can change their whole sound just as distinctly. Bob Welch was an incredible vocalist and went onto to have a very successful solo career. Here's one of "The Pointer Sisters" big hits, if interested. "The Pointer Sisters - Jump (For My Love)" (channel: PointerSistersVEVO) --This song is an electric-pop song and was the 3rd single from their 10th studio album called "Break Out" released in 1983.
