Indian policymakers are aggressive with their alternative fuel policies, Indian cars are already running on E10 Fuel, and by Next year all vehicles will be running on E20 fuel. Still, before filling up your tanks you should know what the hell this is E20. here in this video, we will take a deep dive to understand what is this flex fuel, how it work and what are the pro and cons of this

Totally agree. There is a major disadvantage of sugarcane is it consumes lot of water about 10x as compared to other crops. If we promote sugarcane then it will lead to create another problem esp ground water. If we promote ethanol but other than sugarcane then it will successful.

Quite eye opening. I think hydrogen fuel (for trains, trucks and buses), hybrid and electric vehicles (for passengers) should become part of transition. Govt should promote hybrid vehicles more than flex fuel vehicles and since we have already found lithium reserves in our country, I think transition towards hybrid and electric wouldn't be difficult. The idea of flex fuel seems bad for our environment, especially northern states who are already running out of ground water, neither are these vehicles efficient. We might succeed in becoming self-sufficient but not at the cost of environment and something which will become a huge problem for our future generations. Middle east might have huge oil reserves but they don't have fertile lands and enough fresh water sources. We should think smart and proceed.

Finding and actually mining those reserves is another ball game. Not to mention the environmentally sensitive areas of ladakh will suffer a lot if lithium was to be mined there. Hydrogen fuel cells are still not viable on a large scale and hydrogen combustion based engines are not a good idea : ) . Not to mention the pollution generated in the production of such vehicles and the electricity itself can only be balanced with the emissions generated by regular ICE cars if they run for at least 5-6 yrs, which is becoming increasingly rare considering our ever growing use and throw mindset. The only viable solution is to turn to efficient ICE engines, encourage public transportation and get out of the current consumer mindset.

water consumed per litre of ethanol is not 2850 L at minimum but is 2000 Litre on AVERAGE. average sugarcane production in India is 97-98 ton / hectare. in north India, sugar content in the cane is nearly 4 - 4.5 % & south India ( mainly Tamilnadu ) it is 5 - 6 %. leaving 4 months if sowing & harvesting , irrigating it 8 times , 10 cm of water each time, LEADS TO 100×100×0.8 m³ of water per hactare. if you add water required for industrial production etc then should also compare the requirements of oil shipping, refining & allied processes.

Ethenol blending is a failed technology dont know why Mr Gadkari is so eager for this, it will be disastrous. Process for making for 1 litre ethenol takes around 2800 litre of water, too much water wastage and also food prices bound to go up as well. We have the example of Brazil. For us common people nothing will change as prices likely to remain same Govt will take all benefits.

A couple of points to note: 1) More ethanol is needed right now because the engine is the same. The calorific value of diesel is also low compared to petrol, but the engine's design makes the difference. More compression or something like that could solve this problem. Then only we can comment on the mileage. 2) Prices might be comparable today but for the future, we can't be sure. But what is certain is the limited fossil fuel, it is a non-renewable resource and it will only deplete. Hence, making fuel from your crops will always be a better option because, in this way, every country can be self-sufficient to some extent like they are with cereals or grains. 3) Lastly the problem of excessive use of groundwater for irrigation. That is a real problem, not just for the production of sugarcanes but for other crops as well. And to solve this problem, we need to revolutionise wastewater treatment methods. Treated wastewater coming out from STPs should be so good that it can be directly used for irrigation, hence lowering groundwater consumption. We will always need water for crops but we can choose what type of water we use.

One important point you skipped here sir. Bcoz petroleum fuel has a high quantity of sulphur and lead which is highly polluting and dangerous . But in flex or say ethanol fuel, , it's almost absent there. So considering environmental effects, , , flex fuel is way better then petroleum. . Secondly, , we should also consider here that most of the crop residue is burnt in India ( I think whole world) . The govt is pushing towards solving this issue. This will benefit us in two ways, , 1. No need to burn crom residue means no smoke in the air, , And bcoz burning of crop residue cause death to helpful microorganisms in farm soil. It can be prevented well if crop residue is used in making flex fuel. 2. Farmers will get atleast some money in their hands for which they were burning till now and getting nothing in return. . . One more point ( bcoz I'm a science student and keenly interested in researching such topics ). After many analytics, , it was found that engine wear and tear wasn't that much low after some certain time what it was thought of / expected initially. Means comparatively better in this aspect here. . . Yeah. Got it. One more and important point. . Average efficiency of a IC engine is appx 40% . It means almost 60% fuel is exhausted out without complete burning which causes a harmful effect on environment. But this doesn't happen in case of flex fuel. Bcoz ethanol ( as found after many researches, experiments, testing) doens't harm the environment that much what is done by petroleum fuel. ( Though is does, , but the ratio shows some relief giving signs) . . Hope, you won't mind my teachings to you today 🤭🤭. . Thanks

Gatkari in my opinion is less experienced to understand long term consequences, and the only problem is they impose rather taking steps in favor of public. 1. Hydrogen reactor in a small car.? 2. Ethanol will surely compromise car enthusiasts as power and mieage both will be compromised. 3. Likewise HSRP didn't proved anything positive. 4. BS6 Phase 2 will raise cost of production, is it important in times of inflation.? Voting this government was a very big mistake.

gadkari has said that a russian scientist has researched a way by which ethanol will be equal to petrol. hence mileage of ethanol will be equal to mileage of petrol, and that experiment also became successful. secondly your point about sugarcane needing large amouint of water is true, but government has successfully produced ethanol from pareli and other sourcesa, which u said will be only proven in future, but gadkari has already said that it is been tested and a proven method now. lastly your point of vehicles being abit more expensive in future is completely right, but to curb our dependency on gulf nations, saving our foreign reserves, relatively less pollution, we can do that much right?

I really think that India should focus more on corn harvesting as the major source of ethanol by giving subsidies to agritech industries to develop methods of scale. Plus with the newest discovery of lithium reserves, govt should strive to regulate ev prices so that companies dont start making more than necessary profit so that evs can become cheap, as they easily can. Setting battery manufacturing facilities in india by the private sector should also be a major focus.

Also, more is ethanol, greater will be engine corrosion - lesser will be the life. And what will happen to already 15 years registered E10 engines running on road? Will government provide free upgrade to E20 engines? Who will bear the cost?

E20 se abhi gaadiyo ka nuksan hoga, mileage and power kam hoga magar petrol price toh kam nahi hogi Matlab same distance travel karne ke liye jyada kharcha hoga.

Mast Video bhai. Lekin pichle ek saal se Gadkari ji bol rahe hai ki ek Russian scientist ne ethanol aur petrol ki caloric value same karwa ke dikha di jisko Indian oil ke chairman Vaidya sahab ne bhi mana. Woh aapko cover karna chahiye tha. And since Brazil mein already mass production ho rha hai flex fuel engines/cars ka, toh kya waha se technology transfer nhi ho sakta?

Transition means cost, which we need to bear in any kind of transition so the best solution is to invest on long term sustainable transition. Ecosystem will adapt the cheapest fastest and most sustainable change and government should plays as catalyst.

E10 and E20 are quite feasible in current and future prospects till 2050. 1. R&D on engines can be minimal as it is already a proven tech in few countries. 2. Ethanol price of 65 will come down once the production ramps up. 3. We need more agriculture reforms to produce more crop efficiently. Conclusion: We need to move towards green energy as much as possible in the next 10/20 years. Solar and green H2 can lead us in this direction.

Ethanol producers less combustion energy per gallon than paterol urf octane so power losses in vehicle would be common to minimise power loss little amount say 15 to 20 percentage of gasoline is required buy knocking problem will be removed by ethanol
