When he said they can’t compete with the larger Tool brands that pretty much answered the question. The big three is Milwaukee , DeWalt and Makita.

Until my tools start making me money, I'm sticking with Ryobi. With Home Depot daily deals and Direct Tool Outlet, the pricing allows me to invest in a lot of specialty tools that I would never be able to afford with the contractor brands. They aren't the most powerful or the most rugged but I've never had a Ryobi tool fail and they do what I need them to do as a homeowner and DIYer.

I use them commercially and they’ve always been good to me I use dewalt too hard to leave those platforms but ryobi is good for buying a specialty tool you don’t need all the time

I have ryobi on-board my sailboat and while the battery that came with the drill/circular saw set just refused to charge right at 6 months, the 2 pack I replaced them with are as good now 5 years later as the day i bought them. I am wanting a router, but haven't made up my mind on if I want to get the Ryobi cordless or get a higher quality brand AC corded router as the reviews for ryobis claim even the high capacity batteries only.last minutes...but honestly I probably will just continue with ryobi as I don't use them for anything but boat projects (I turned the dinette area into a workshop complete with anvil vise and small 4x4 built shop table) but I use a lit of hand tools mostly

I work at a collision shop and highly invested my tools in harbor freight and eventually upgraded to Milwaukee. When it came to start my side business, I was on a tight budget so I invested in Ryobi ( generator inverter, pressure washer, drills etc) . Best decision I've made as far as starting my business

I been using Milwaukee tools for about 25 plus years, I never had any problems with them except for batteries not charging and not holding a charge, but that's expected with any brand. I'll continue to use Milwaukee tools for life and will not change...

Coming from someone heavily invested in Milwaukee, FLEX is on some other level man. I’ve got their online circ saw, came with a 5.0bat, carry case, charger, for same price as my normal (NON in-line) m18 fuel circ with no goodies. Flex saw, even being in-line, has some serious ass

They have more power because they are higher voltage. Easy to math that out. No one talks about battery run times in comparison. No one wants to use a 2 pound battery on a drill all day long. They are great tools just like Milwaukee or dewalt and you wouldn’t be wrong in buying them it just is hard to jump ship when I’m 10-20k deep in the red brand

It depends on price. If the range of tools is good, I'd probably consider them. I recently had all my makita kit stolen, so i upgraded to Erbauer as it had a good tool range, was cheap, and to be fair, they do the job. They're a bit bulkier but got me back on my feet at an affordable price.

Depends … it’s crazy to think 1 manufacturer is going to make all vest tools, sadly that’s not how things works Milwaukee is good for some things they Dewalt is good for others.. for woodworking Dewalt is very good, for plumbers Ridgid makes super good tools, Knipex makes good tool for electricians, Matco,Cornwell make good tool for mechanics etc. Dewalt makes the best wood planer of all the brands, Milwaukee is expensive but they are leaders in Lithium ion technology (Flex too) and their tools are compact.

Flex tools are awesome they are probably one of the best tools on the market unfortunately the size of their brand is not adequate and their batteries at least for the cylindrical sells lithium-ion they're not good batteries they put a lot of power out but lately we've been finding tons of batteries that are leaking black thermal gel so the tools are awesome they need to really upgrade their batteries to batteries that don't leak thermal gel outside of that I would say flex is going to put everybody under the table because in most cases flexes the most powerful tool on the market hope you guys have better luck with flex than I did 💯🇺🇸💪

They won't. Hunks of poop arent contractor grade. Boss man got us a drill driver combo because he's a cheap bast@rd the drill caught on fire drilling 5/8 holes in pt posts. Good for yall homeowners, kinda like ryobi, or ridgid. Decent tools, but not made for daily hard use

Only certain batches of some tools had the leaking batteries. I have a new saw I bought from them and there isn't a hint of any thermal goo. I haven't read any reports of any actual battery failures. Fortunately they are not dangerous or defective cells. It's just the thermal paste around the cells that was the culprit. Black Goo isn't great. But they are offering totally free replacement batteries, no questions asked. I read several reports that they will mail you new batteries with no questions asked if you do have a leaking battery. Flex are very generous with their warranty. Flex are a Lowes brand and the Lowes is trying to improve their customer experience by honoring warranties. None of the reviews for that saw have mentioned any battery issues.

I am switching to Flex. Neither Milwaukee nor DeWalt can match the Flex cordless circular saws. The Flex 6 1/2" belt drive cordless worm saw has a dust port, no dust goes back in your face, and it cuts deeper than any other 7 1/4" saw on the market due to its belt drive. It also has crazy power and the correct blade speed (5,500rpm). The Milwaukee #2732, I tried 2 of them new from Home Depot and both have a misaligned shoe (foot plate) that is 0.020" out of parallel with the blade. You cannot saw with a straight edge guide unless the shoe is perfectly parallel to the blade. The Flex saw I brought home was absolutely perfectly parallel; the shoe is dead parallel to the blade, not even 0.001" out of alignment (using machinist measuring tools). The Flex apparently has better quality control on the saws. Both Milwaukees I brought home were unable to make a clean cut using a straight edge guide, the Flex cuts perfectly, no blade marks or burning. The Flex warranty is also a lifetime warranty right now until the end of this year. They are offering new customers who buy anything before 2024 a lifetime warranty. People have reported that Flex is very generous and will simply mail you a new battery if you call and complain. They don't require an expensive RMA return exchange.

Made from the creators of EGO, enough said. U can love or hate features in the Flex tools, but u can't homestly question the quality of the tools. When u look and feel the tools, they are very nice like the ego products. And im a heavily jnvested milwaukee guy m18 & m12. Milwaukee, Flex and EGO is what I currently rock.

Flex is basically pro level diy at the moment due to their selection cuz they are so new still. I have so many tools at work that flex jus doesnt offer. I do have a couple flex tools by the way cuz im a tool nut. Primarily metal working tools for me and then some concrete tools. Some of the tools i have most homeowners wont have and neither does flex. Also the pricing is just not there yet cuz they arent so big yet and i mean like for a deal hunter like me. I have found a bunch of 5ah powerstacks, regular powerstacks, flexvolts like no problem for way better prices then the retail whether its offerup or ebay or w/e and that stuff is still new. Very difficult to come across flex for good prices. Ive also sold things myself and flex jus so difficult to sell i didnt get as much as i thought i would.

How many tools does the average person need or use? Specialized tools are a niche sector.
@norml.hugh-mann
@norml.hugh-mann 10 ай бұрын
Not enough info.....the average person that does their own home repairs or the average person that just hires someone? Does the person enjoy small building projects as so many do? It's really more of a personal choice but I would say a drill and circular saw, and a reciprocating saw and a chainsaw if you have a yard with trees or a fireplace....then there is lawn care tools...and hand tools...which a screwdriver set, atchet set, wrench set, A TAPE MEASURE is about the most important hand tool because you can save a lot just by getting the right sized board cut at a hardware store. And any tools needed to fix or maintain your toys. Hope this helps

From my experience, FLEX is right on par with Milwaukee. They're aiming at the best of them. They're under the DeWalt umbrella so... They don't have the selection that any of the other big guys have. However, that can be a benefit to some.
