Just as I imagined before... it start easily, ride real smooth and fairly quiet. I was riding it in a taxi at Czech in1988. Volga if im not mistaken. Great car, still in original version (so many face lifting afterwards), but i really prefer thid early version. An epic and great vehicle...

One more thing: I estimate so much what you do, it‘s got more to do with Art than with faffing around cars. Every video you make is a piece of Art on its own right and a „Memento mori“ somehow. Your eternal silence is an aspect making it deeply profound as well as it’s sort of a „running gag“. You may say „I only make cars running“ but you do it with such a personality and style as you won‘t find it elsewhere. Keep that going man, in a way you point towards the past and the future at the same moment. More power to you 🙏🏻.

Those engines were no powerhouses but they ran forever. I guess if in a million years archeologists find remains of a GAZ24 they make it run with little effort.

Every time you start a car it bring to me an emotion! It’s like if you put the life in them. I’m so happy to see it! In my country that car is known as the Volga 24, few of them had been imported in the late ‘70s and all of them were equipped with the Peugeot 2,3 Diesel “indenor”.

I know these cars since i was a kid.They were sold in Belgium as Volga M24 D and were sold with a 2112 cc Peugeot indenor XD 90 engine that was build in at the belgian importer Scaldia-Volga in brussels.

I would have sprayed a light oil (like WD-40) into the combustion chamber by removing the spark plugs before start up tp lubricate the cylinder walls and in case there has been some rust buildup on the piston rings. This would prevent any piston ring damage and cylinder wall damage. Great to see the old Soviet running again!

Try this with these so called “premium” vehicles after sitting in a meadow for 16 years. They start breaking down after 5 years, those so called “premium” Audi’s and others, leaving their owners with huge workshop bills and frustrations. This GAZ comes from way back when, a Sovjet car that is a reliable piece of honest engeneering. I believe although the car is in a sorry state, it is still not beyond preservation. These cars are now cult objects. Much is still available in former USSR countries at affordable prices. Just something else then your thirteen in a dozen Zhiguli’s! Nice!!! I wish I had it!

Я однажды купил ваз 07 полностью гнилую, которая простояло где то 15 лет под открытым небом и вросшая в землю, это была моя первая машина. Завелось это чудо только с пятого раза, как оказалось ехала она неплохо правда коробка была на 4 ступени. Привел его как мог в нормальный вид, в принципе на что денег хватило, поменял тормоза и причем полностью, жидкости, карб, фильтр, свечи, бронепровода, трамблер и не много по кузову. В итоге заводилась она с пол оборота, дикий разгон до сотни и ноги под пол не проваливались.

Little rusty but it’s Russian so just some elbow grease, duct tape and steel wire then you can fix the entire car. I thought they’d be rusting away in a Russian junkyard somewhere. It’s also nice to hear it fire up once again even if it runs a bit rough. Nice video and stay safe and healthy
