Flicking Lures in Ōrewa, Auckland. Fishing with Only One Lure!

In this video I am in Orewa on the North Shore of Auckland. All my fishing gear is stuck in Dunedin accept for one rod and a Hex Wobbler. I head out to launch some casts of the rocks and at the Estuary mouth to see what's alive and kicking.

Hey mate great video, when you visited on this occasion was it incoming or outgoing tide? I visited today on the outgoing no success tried the mouth nd main beach never went to the rocks will be the spot i try next time.

Ohh unlucky! Dam that video was a long time ago but I think on low with the incoming also not too far from dusk. Loads of kahawai are usually around the mouth, just persist and hit dusk or dawn you should get on to them! Good luck if you head back🤙

The wrasse is called a Paketi. The chrome slice has been around forever and will always catch fish. Another chrome lure that works well and takes waaay more speed is made from proper hexagonal Brass and then chromed. Look up WK Flash arrow. Halco lures australia used to make a copy.

Hi man, do you know the casting weight of the rod ? I'm coming in NZ soon for a long Time and i plan to catch some trout with lures essentially. I have a hard Time chosing rod length and casting weight so i Can fish both in clear and salt water. Thanks for your answer 🙏

Kia ora bro, I’m sure you’ll have a lot of fun here in NZ. That rod is an 8ft 6-12lb line that I believe is for casting 1-8g lures. I got it for the canals but I’d recommend getting one that casts slightly heavier lures maybe 5-14g. But definitely go for 8ft plus if your mainly land based to make distance a breeze. Yeah absolutely Kawahai love them! Just haven’t had the cam with me, I’ll have to do a softbait vid at some point!

Aww awesome sounds good, Not really that day, but in the future I plan on getting the kayak out for a proper mission to scout out the area, not sure when but hopefully find some proper fish!
