Usually just jump on Marine Deals and have them sent. Unless I stop by a local shop, can be hit or miss in person of course. Kahawai aren’t the pickiest though!

Bloody hell I used to go out there in the 1960's early 1970's and caught bugger all. Freeze your arse off, get wind burn and a cold and come home empty handed. Looks like fishing there has improved substantially. Good on yer mate.

You are doing great and the content is awesome Carry on dear But none of your videos does SEO Perfectly. SEO is the most important to rank a video on KZfaq's top and get organic engagements for a lifetime. So it would help if you fix this to get the organic result. Ohh unlucky! Dam that video was a long time ago but I think on low with the incoming also not too far from dusk. Loads of kahawai are usually around the mouth, just persist and hit dusk or dawn you should get on to them! Good luck if you head back🤙

@FFA-Official.
@FFA-Official. 6 ай бұрын
Hey mate! I like to get it about a meter or two off the bottom then let the waves disperse it. Here it was around 20ish meters of water so around 18 down. When it’s more than 10 meters getting it below the surface is a must in my opinion. Hope that helps🙏

great video. bro. I am new to fishing. what kind of burley did you use and where did you buy it?
@FFA-Official.
@FFA-Official. 7 ай бұрын
Thankyou bro🙌 Lots of the snapper are eating shellfish around the area so shellfish berley can be great, otherwise oily berley like a salmon burley is great as it can travel a bit further, both will work!! I like to get the cardboard ones so you can recycle and no plastic will end up in the water! Fishing Direct in silverdale was the spot for that one, there’s also a Top Catch on the Whangaparoa peninsula if your heading that way. Good luck out there!!

Thankyou🙌- I just use a swivel to some fluorocarbon trace (go as light as you can depending on environment, if it’s rough ground use stronger stuff) from there a 7’0 KLT Hook. Add some ball sinkers before the Hook if there’s heaps of current. You want to float the bait down as naturally as possible. Hope this helps🤙

Great video but please do not pull the fish on land, kiss them, or touch them with dry hands when you release them. It will hurt their mucus layer which protects the fish from bacteria, viruses and fungi.

Nice videos bro! What setup do you have for the rig? Is it just a lure? Or is there more to it. Want to get into trout fishing too
@FFA-Official.
@FFA-Official. 10 ай бұрын
Thankyou brother! Just a little dropper with three flies and a 1 ounce sinker. Use super light leader (6-10lb), you can also grab pre-made rigs at a tackle shop. Pat swift flies and Black Magic both make some easy ones you just clip on if you don’t want to spend half your day tying haha. Good luck with the fishing, I’m sure you’ll smash it. The local tackle shops will let you know what’s working and where 🤙

Hi man, do you know the casting weight of the rod ? I'm coming in NZ soon for a long Time and i plan to catch some trout with lures essentially. I have a hard Time chosing rod length and casting weight so i Can fish both in clear and salt water. Thanks for your answer 🙏
@FFA-Official.
@FFA-Official. 11 ай бұрын
Kia ora bro, I’m sure you’ll have a lot of fun here in NZ. That rod is an 8ft 6-12lb line that I believe is for casting 1-8g lures. I got it for the canals but I’d recommend getting one that casts slightly heavier lures maybe 5-14g. But definitely go for 8ft plus if your mainly land based to make distance a breeze. Feel free to flick me a dm on Insta if ya have any questions. Good luck and hope it all goes well 🤙

They both have their place depends where your fishing too, in this one it’s shallow as so the berley brings them in, lures can be just as effective, I just like flicking them when it’s a bit deeper and with more current, just gotta have a crack and see what goes on the day🤙
