Wehn i was in Training our Instructor told us "we are the last line of defnese before the Cockpit" In my Career as a FA and Purser i understood what that meant two times and till that day i dont want anything more but just a "thank you" from my Passengers. With every take off i remeber that this Job is about the Safetey for the people on baord and the people on the ground. But sure i make anothe Diet Coke without Ice because im too stupid to remeber you wanted it without....

Staying selfless. She knew they’d already stabbed two people and they were not afraid to kill someone else. Maybe she didnt know the extent of the danger she was in, but she knew it wasn’t good. She still called the ground to try and let them know details 💔

And once you do that you can find connections to other terrorists, look at webcams and figure that stuff out.

I'm not in aviation, so I'm speculating here. Unlike the passengers and crew of United 93, Betty was almost certainly unaware of the hijackers' intentions until they were near Manhattan. So, she would have done, or attempted to do, everything in accordance with her training. Calling in the situation, trying to gather and give as much information as possible, giving the passengers instructions, support and reassurance, perhaps performing first aid. Had Betty, the rest of the crew and passengers known what was coming, I daresay that everyone on board would have tried to contact the people they loved. Still knots my stomach, 20 years later. And I was nowhere near any of it. I can only imagine what it does to people who were directly affected by it.

That comment is indeed a perfect tribute. I aspired to be a part of the cabin crew in my 20s and each time I failed for some reason but even today I respect that job very much. It's not an easy thing to be a flight attendant. RIP Betty Ong and every single soul from those airliners.

My aunt was also in the sky that day, flying back from London. My uncle watched the towers fall from their roof 💔💔. More heroes at the airport and the community in Gander. I believe she was there for 6 days. The musical Come From Away is based on the story of Gander on 9/11. I wasn’t aware how many people didn’t know this happened, but of course it makes sense. It is absolutely wrenching but there’s also a documentary of the day completely compromised of video clips from the citizens and visitors of New York City. I think it was called What Happened on 9/11 but I’d have to double check

You're not necessarily a "hero" for being in the wrong place at the wrong time. The heroes we saw were on flight 93. They were not taking it and had information by that point from the other flights that happened. They all knew they were not gonna make it at that point, but were not going to let them kill even more people.

Betty Ann Ong was the first flight attendant on Flight 11 to make the phone call relaying critical information to authorities that a hijacking was taking place. This helped them to realize that they needed to close air spaces for the first time in United States history. She kept a calm and composed demeanor for the greater good of humanity during what she likely knew would be the last minutes of her life - a true hero would be the least we should be calling her!!! God forbid there were additional aircrafts aside from flight 11, flight 77, flight 175 and flight 93 that could have been hijacked that day!

Me as well but their are so many stories and as this year's remembrance began I tried to hear as many as I could but 1 really made me tear up. A bunch of people were going down the stairs with an elderly woman but being old she couldn't make it so she told them to leave her but they said no and as the building collapsed on them they shielded the elderly lady with their bodies so they'd get crushed 1st but as fate would have it the stairwell they were in withstood the collapse and they all survived! They were willing to sacrifice their lives if she couldn't live and God saw it

I don't believe she thought was about to die. Her trainning kicked in. Giving info as best she could with hope that this would turn around. Ether over coming the at that time "Highjackers" Or having to land And see the demands of the highjackers..There was no way of knowing that day was going to see planes slamming into the ground Or buildings

@@freakyflow Come on, she was a seasoned crew member, she obviously saw the buildings around her and the noise of the plane flying so fast and so low must have been unbearable (the air is dense). She experienced what the poor souls on board of Germanwings did. Flying down as you see the tips of the mountains... Whenever 9/11 is mentioned, Betty Ong is first victim and hero I can clearly see though they were many heros that day and so many more victims... I can't explain it but since 9/11, I always felt connected to Betty as if she was my guardian angel (and I know I'm not the only pilot to feel that way).... A slight correction, those were the final words of Amy Sweeney I believe. She was among one of Flight 11's flight attendants that day and was also able to contact a manager and relay information too. Betty's final words were "Pray for us, Pray for us". Regardless, they were real heroes.
