Awesome trip report. Being upgraded although you didn't have loyalty with them was very rare, and that has made this long flight much better. I think they have one of the best B787 economy seats out there

Nice trip report! If you look on Etihad’s website you can either choose the Airbus A350-1000 or the Boeing 787-9 from New York to Abu Dhabi or Abu Dhabi to New York Flight EY 102 and EY 103 will be both operated by the Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner ey 102 is jfk to AUH and ey 103 is AUH to JFK Ey 100 and 101 is A350-1000 I flew on both their A350 and their 787 there awesome planes but I like the 787 more, I like their a350 also but the seats are slightly more comfortable on their 787s than their a350’s but this is a nice trip report! You should fly on their Airbus A350! You will like like it! :) keep up your amazing work as always!

Sorry, newb question. Etihad's Economy Space. What happens to unsold seats? What happens if they sell out the entire plane, but not enough people are willing to buy the Economy Space seats? Can it happen that some folks get those "expensive" seats for free? Or do the last people to book have to pay a higher fare and they get the Economy Space seats included with their higher fare? That seems like the fair way to go.

Hi are they strict with checked baggage. Would they allow for 2-3kg over. What about the 7kg carry on rule

Here in Etihad we can take complimentary items(like, blanket, pillow, headphones, sleeping kit, wellness kit etc) with us at home or out of the plane while we go home ?

I believe blankets & pillows are only for use during flight but everything else including their complementary headphones are ok to take home. Hope that helps :)

Sadly EY now flies all 787-9 btw JFK & AUB , no more a350-1000 for a while.... Does EY flies to EWR as well?

EY doesn’t fly to EWR. It’s only Emirates.

Yes they offer coffee and tea. And on top of that they serve a large variety of soft drinks and even alcoholic beverages.

how was the US immigration pre clearance experience at AUB?

Pre clearance at AUH when I flew in December of 2021 was a bit hectic and took about 2 hours. Though I’ve heard since it’s gotten better. Hope that helps!

The plastic cutlery is a letdown from etihad

On my last flight on etihad i had metal cutlery from Milan to Abu Dhabi. I think they use metal cutlery only on seleted routes.

I can see that only second meal was served with plastic cutlery, first was metal. I guess its to reduce plane weight on such a long flight, imagine if they had to load +370 more cutlery packages just for the second meal service itself. I thinks thats the main reason.
