Fantastically beautiful film. Obviously the script has some absurdities and sentimentalities, but that's all blown away by the quality and power of the images. It is really extraordinary and it's a privilege to be able to see it, as I had never even heard of it before. Buried treasure.

Good aviation flick. written by the master of flying movies. Ernest K. Gann. Check out his numerous novels about flying. 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰 It was good to see Glenn Ford again, and Suzanne Pleshette. Thanks for posting. The plane used in the movie was a pretty funky looking jet, but the jet age hadn't been around very long when the movie was produced, and Hollywood came up with a strange duck.

The "Consolidated Airways" jet aircraft used in the film, called "Blue Ribbon", was one of two fabricated from DC-7(B) donors, the second used to create the crash scene on the beach. The wings were reportedly removed and reversed, and a Boeing 707 nose cone along with "supersonic spike" were also added in order to achieve the appearance of a modern jet airliner. Modifications to the rear section of the aircraft included the addition of two nacelles to accommodate the simulated jet engines. A rear-mounted Boeing 707 spike-styled HF antenna isolator and antenna were added to the tail section.

I saw this film when it first came out. I still love it, & It had a great cast, Sad to say almost all the main actors & actresses are dead. Except Maybe Nancy Khan. Later years I found out about the making of this Movie 🎬 FATE IS THE HUNTER After I Read The book by ERNEST K GANN LIKE A LOT OF HOLLYWOOD MOVIES, THEY INVENT A SCRIPT WITH MAYBE A COUPLE OF SENTENCES, FROM THE BOOK. ABOUT HALF WAY THROUGH THE FILMING OF THIS MOVIE, ERNST GANN WALKED OFF THE SET HE WAS SO DISCUSTED WITH IT ALL. HE HAD HIS NAME REMOVED FROM THE CREDITS. JUST LEFT ON WHO WROTE THE NOVEL, THE MOVIE WAS BASED ON. NO DC - 2S OR DC- 3S OR ANY OTHER REAL AIRCRAFT THAT WAS USED IN THE AIR TRANSPORT COMMAND OF THE AAF I STILL LOVE THIS MOVIE REGARDLESS, BUT IT'S A FORERUNNER IN A SMALL WAY TO 1970'S AIRPORT. ERNEST K GANN WROTE GRAND BOOKS ON AVIATION, ISLAND IN THE SKY , THE HIGH & THE MIGHTY, BAND OF BROTHERS, AS WELL AS ADVENTURE NOVELS, SOLIDER OF FORTUNE & MASADA. BUT THIS FATE IS THE HUNTER 🎬 MOVIE IS NOT ENTIRELY BY THE NOVEL. THE SOUNDTRACK IS STILL AWESOME ! THE LONELY HORN & THE AERIL MELODIES & FAINT CHOIR IN THE BACKGROUND GOES WELL , WITH THE MOVIE.

This is a very good film with a great cast. I was planning on it lulling me to sleep. Nope. I prefer the older films. Less of the lurid and more story and character development. You'll come to like the characters in this story very much. I highly recommend. My oldest sister was a flight attendant for nearly 50 years. She turned 21 in stew school. Me, 13 years younger, was so proud of her! Still am. She's in rehab after knee surgery at the moment. Send healing thoughts! Her fave flights were the special ones carrying Gulf War troops to and from our bases in Germany.

Yes, old movies are much better than most of today's movies! Any movie I turn on that made in the past 25 years I end up having to turn off because there is slimy saliva-swishing every 3 minutes. If what today's movie-goers want to see only nasty loud smooching instead of an actual story, then I worry for the sanity of today's youth.

Ernest Ganns autobiography " Fate is the Hunter " is the finest book on aviation that I have ever read , and I have read hundreds in the last 75 years. Cabin staff entering the flight deck and being chummy with the pilots has caused a number of fatal accidents , especially at the time the pilots should be doing take off check lists. Rod Taylors character would have had his license revoked long before sitting in the Captains seat of a Jet Liner.

What a nice find. Love Glenn Ford, Rod Taylor. Let's not forget kwan and Pleshette. Had to go back again and see the coffee cup was the culprit. But, confused as they should have known when they open this compartment nothing but import wires were located there. I think they call it negligence. The airline is responsible for this crash. They get the hold, the engine fire gets priority. And we are only 8:06 into the movie!!! Sorry honey, lets watch 48 hours instead. Oh, and why has the 1st officer still got his tunic on??? Thats why people think that when an aircraft loses its engines it goes into a death dive. But enjoy the acting, Suzanne Pleschette is a KNOCK OUT!! Have to cut the producers some slack, since it wasn't real plane but a composite. Real planes were not used in such films at one time, i.e., No Highway in the Sky, because no aircraft manufacturer wanted the public to think the planes they made were unsafe. It wasn't Airport was made in 1970 that an actual 707 was used. Incidentally, the interior scenes of that film were from a 707 that had crashed in Mexico City. The remains were brought back to Hollywood.

Why do people insist on uploading movies and changing the name? That is more of a copyright violation than just posting the original video as released. You sound like, You are either a Pilot, or work in the Airline Industry or have a Military background? Very interesting comments & I agree with refraining from using fake titles of films & wondered about this myself. Great movie though with good actors. Suzanne Pleshette was very beautiful & Glenn Ford displayed great intensity too!

@@pamelahays-lx1to No I am not a pilot, although I learned to pilot the Cessna 172 in 1960. I would have become a military and then commercial pilot, except for back in those days you couldn't be colorblind. But, I have studied aviation, in particular avaition accidents for many years.

Yes, they are all so natural and realistic it doesn't seem like the fake play-acting of today's movies, that's for sure.

Wrong title … galling. 🤬. Incredibly unrealistic circumstances immediately following the crash, even for a movie. Just not credible.

Good movie with great actors, but fate like chance (or The Force) has no consciousness and cannot hunt nor direct any created thing one way or another. .

Try saying all of that in one breath, then when you find you can't - use punctuation ie commas, full stops, etc!
