A sleazy newspaper publisher (Raymond Burr) murders his mistress (Hillary Brooke) and frames her husband for the crime. Will he get away with it or will an honest police detective (Robert Rockwell) untangle the web of lies and reveal the truth?
Raymond Burr--best known for playing the dogged defense attorney Perry Mason--spent the first part of his career playing villains of the worst kind. He plays one such character in this film, and he's reportedly excellent, looming large throughout both metaphorically and literally.
Does Burr's performance match what some critics say about it? Join friendly film fans for the Screening Room premiere of "Unmasked" and chat about the movie as it unfolds. (And if you're coming to it at some point in the future, please leave a comment!)

There are independent film makers who make short stories and aggregators that feature them. If you like sci-fi, DUST is a good place to start. But, in the comments, there's always those simpletons who say "It needs to be longer!". IMO, longer just means more garbage just to extend the time.

But think about the undergarments and accessories: rigid bras; hot slips; girdles-or-you-weren't-properly-dressed even at home or in a casual dress; stockings & garter belts; waists as tight as could be; fashion gloves on a hot day; thin, femimine coats in the cold; uncomfortable shoes even in the home; granny panties ... hideous maternity tops, although rarely seen in movies. 😁 Fashion was designed for women with all the correct undergarments to be worn, especially in movies. No girdle, and your suit might not fit. It was serious torture, the evolution of the hard corset. Women dressed prettily but it came at a price. Even bathing suits had built-in girdles. 😁 Don't get me started on the clip-on earrings that weighed a pound each. 😅 I'm glad to have been born in this era.

@jacksugden8190....What Ramond Burr is best remembered for depends upon the age of the person. I am now 72 and I was a fan of Perry Mason before Burr made Ironside. Yes, I really liked Ironside; I thought Burr and the rest of the cast did a great job with Ironside. But I had known Perry Mason for so many years that it was hard to see him in a wheelchair and not want to yell at the T.V....."Perry Mason...just stand up...why don't you just stand up...??? Perhaps the BBC ion Britain didn't show Perry Mason much..?? It is odd, isn't it, how Burr was so well known as a "bad guy" for many years, and suddenly does a 180 degree turn and becomes one of the most famous defense lawyers on T.V....!!

Raymond Burr, everybody's favorite villain burnished his reputation as a fat bad guy while honing his talents in films such as Desperate, Sleep My Love, Raw Deal, Pitfall, Abandoned, Red Light, His Kind of Woman, The Blue Gardenia & Crime of Passion. His Noirs include Walk A Crooked Mile, Borderline, Unmasked, The Whip Hand, FBI Girl, Rear Window, They Were So Young, A Cry in the Night, Affair in Havana, Meet Danny Wilson. As a bad guy, he played a crooked cop, a lousy husband & father who abandons his family, a jealous boyfriend/husband, a mob boss who tortures & threatens someone who refuses to be intimidated, a ruthless business owner who slaps the female help, a psychopath, etc. His portly physique made him guilty before he even displayed his talents as a dangerous, psychopathic perpetrator who will stop at nothing to get what he wants. His real life, nice guy reputation suffered leading him to do Perry Mason, a lawyer, then Ironsides, a police detective. These two roles rehabilitated his career and enabled him to enjoy a career revival, working until his death.

@@SteveMillerTalks I have never seen it; moreover, it's not as well known as the ones I mentioned. I think that Burr is creepy enough without playing opposite a gorilla. And at the end she kisses the man that is responsible for her father's death, classic female. And let's not omit all the insightful mostly female comments: Raymond Burr, Raymond Burr, Raymond Burr, Raymond Burr, Raymond Burr, Raymond Burr, Raymond Burr, Raymond Burr, Raymond Burr. Oh man, how I love this society :D

Well, wasn't that the typical gangster mix up and usual dastardly shenanigans 'n double crosses? Everyone got what they fully deserved and the hero gets the girl in the end...walk out of theatre satisfied you spent your 25 cents on worthwhile entertainment.

No idea. The only old-timey stars I know much about the private lives of is Thelma Todd (because I did a year-long post series focused on her and her movies a few years back) and Bessie Love (because I have used a fictionalized version of her in numerous roleplaying game supplements and blog posts). Actually, I guess I know quite a bit about the private lives of Roscoe Arbuckle, Harold Lloyd, and Buster Keaton, too. Now that I am thinking about it...
