I agree, you can spend more time in flight and at a low speed.

One of the great things about paramotoring is the variety of flight styles that you can do. It can be as peaceful as sitting in a chair on the porch watching the sunrise or sunset, except at altitude. It can also be as challenging as you want to make it with XC, acro, slalom, etc. Even working on the basic skills such as precision launches and landings is fun. There's also the freedom to take-off from places other than airports, and on your own schedule!

@ParamotorNC do you have radio on board with you? Say somehow you end up in a forbidden fly zone, how will you be notified?
I'm surprised paramotors are still largely unknown, it's the coolest thing ever. You can basically FLY with a device that costs a few thousand dollars, and it's not as hard as learning how to fly a plane or helicoptor. I guess the only limiting thing is where you live and if you have open fields like this.
@ParamotorNC6 ай бұрын
Agreed. Relatively affordable and accessible. It is more rewarding if you have open areas to fly nearby.

@Logan46616 ай бұрын
First, your question refers to paragliding (PG), not paramotoring or powered paragliding (PPG), which is a very different sport than shown in the video. That out of the way, "can you train in the city or do you need a wide open space?" Yes, you can do some training in the city, if you have a wide open space, like a park. With enough room away from people and objects to move, and a clear path for the wind (trees and buildings cause turbulence) you could work on your kiting skills and equipment care. I would recommend going to a school for whichever sport you are interested in. As you learn the skills you will get a good idea of what makes for a good training area, and what doesn't, and then decide if the area you have in mind is appropriate. At school you should be using their equipment, so it's a try before you buy situation. Worst case scenario, it's a fun vacation!
If only the training didn't cost as much as the paramotor itself 😂

Do you need any license to fly a tandem trike? Obviously training but are any licenses or certifications required? If so, what is the cost?
@ParamotorNC9 ай бұрын
Ultralights (including trikes) are limited to a single occupant according to FAR Part 103. The only exception is for certified instructors giving a discovery flight. If you would like to take a passenger, then you will want to look at other aircraft such as a powered parachutes (which will require a sport pilot license and N-number). I am not sure of the cost of license and certification of light sport aircraft.

Flying near the mountains is beautiful. However, wind moving over mountainous terrain can result in more turbulent conditions than the same wind over flat land. So we are cautious near mountains while flying. Also, farm land tends to provide more land-able options in case the motor stops running (we would glide down safely).
