I am a "weekend warrior" private pilot, I fly for fun with no intentions of going commercial. I have had my PPL for over 15 years, but still consider each flight a learning experience - I generally take detailed notes after each flight to remind myself what went well or what I could do to improve.... Having the GoPro cameras to record flights like this is invaluable. I find these self analysis videos very helpful in my constant quest to improve, and am happy to share. Feedback is invited; however, please keep it positive.

Hey, I had started volunteering at that museum last year working on the Mosquito and had been watching your RV slowly get closer to completion. Awesome that you're on to the last box, and I think yellow would be a most appropriate colour to match the others. Unfortunately with covid, I've been stuck on the US side of the border since and haven't been over since February. Good luck and hope to be able to get back over and see the progress soon!

Building in a group looks fun, it's easier to keep the motivation going. Unfortunately there are literally thousands of abandoned projects around the world so here is a simple tip for keeping the motivation going for the lone builder. Keep one unimportant piece of material (wood or metal) with either sandpaper or a file nearby and you don't really feel enthusiastic about putting in the hours just start sanding or filing... within a very short time you will be back into the groove ;-). I know because I've just finished over 9000 hours building my Long-Ez. Two hours every evening for 13 years, admittedly some of that time was spent listening to the radio and having a quiet beer away from the family.

I would recommend keeping it on the ground until it’s painted, not only to keep the introduction of moisture away from edges where panels meet and will possible trap moisture in there when painted, but it will very likely cause you more time and prep work when you are ready to paint.

@@FlightChops I can understand the feeling, but you’ll be glad you did, if you don’t you may end up introducing some moisture to areas that will show up as bubbles in the paint later down the road.

Agree with the yellow bird scheme. Maybe you could extend a stripe down from the black anti-glare section on the the cowl to create chops. With the cowl inlets as the eyes it could suggest the logo from the front.
@FlightChops

Interesting idea. I did intend to do the black top of the cowl to match the anti glare of the warbirds... Do you think that might make the engine bay hotter when it is parked? I guess if that doesn't matter for warbirds, it will be fine here? This airplane is hist so tightly cowled...

Suggestion (saw this used years ago on an Air Niagara plane I was in): Drop a piece of leather swatch on each seat (the size of the seat bottom). The pilot and passenger can step on that and when you're in the plane you simply move the 2 leather pieces to the back of the plane. When you leave the plane you grab the leather piece and place them back (under your butt) so you can step on it again to exit the plane. Really saved the seats themselves from being stepped on directly.

Yes, yellow for the paint, and I think we need rondells on the wings, but instead of circles with circles inside of them, I think we need a circle with the Flight Chops logo in them. Ha - actually totally not sponsored by them. I simply but that text in so people wouldn’t lose their minds thinking I was using a hard grinding wheel on aluminium (which happened in an earlier build vlog)

Yellowbird paint. But instead of the maple leaf, put the flight chops logo
@FlightChops
@FlightChops 3 жыл бұрын
That’s an interesting idea... I’m hesitant to mess with the Roundel though. I’m either gonna put them on the plane or not but I don’t think I want to risk offending by mixing the logo into them...

@@FlightChops fair point, I hadn't thought about that. I'm from New York and I'd probably wouldn't want the same for an American war bird scheme. Regardless, we better see some muttonchops on that bird, lol

@@FlightChops I still love the videos though, especially this build! I’ve loved the idea of kit aircraft since “A plane is born” aired in the UK, but your build videos have made me look at Vans very closely. I think there might be an RV-10 build in my few-years-off future!
