Not really. Flip dots are obsolete and ebay was flooded with them for years. This was 5 years ago. It may be expensive now, though.

@@rich1051414 kinda taking the control scheme for granted for such a large installation. Individual flip dots and smaller panels are cheap, but I can't think of a lot of overly cheap ways by which to control so many flipdots. Most of the controllers for such devices are pretty pricey -- even making your own controllers with simple darlington transistors would be pricey with such a large format.

Did you monitored how much watts it use under heavy load ? (eg: tons of dots being animated)

it would'nt be much I'm pretty sure its magnetically operated you can flip one of the dots with static electricity by accident although I am still curious

@@yukko_yoshidaYep, like CMOS it only needs power to change, but much more than CMOS needs. Hence why the OC explicitly asked for power consumption during heavy use such as scrolling that image diagonally.

Were you thinking out loud? Because devices such as your phone pick up what you say and advertisements and KZfaq will start recommending that product to you, or whatever it was that you were thinking of.

@@thecomedypilot5894 Yeah same with music, if you play a music on your phone with a different account next to your pc with a mic plugged in, you'll see that music in your recommended even if you never searched or watched it, and one other thing i noticed was with a friend when we were talking about a comedian and never watched any videos of him and then some of his videos appeared

while it won't make the sound, E-Paper displays have the same crisp, passively lit texture as flip dot. Some manufacturers are now making phones with them: www.e-ink-info.com/e-ink-devices/mobile-phones

Like this is freaking sick but also this kinda feels like that meme of evolving but backwards cuz we have much more efficient stuff like this would be sick in a like "Syfy western", like a movie that takes place in the past but with fancy ass technology but is still not crazy advanced but rather creative. @@SkrovnoCZ I saw those but there is a new sonic toothbrush out now by Oral B called the iO and it has a small color display on it that shows different icons. I'm curious if the guy that hacked the pregnancy tester to play Doom could do the same on the toothbrush.
