Great trip. Little tip for you as I can see you care about the fish you release. Stop curling your fingers up when cradling the fish. You’re putting pressure on internal organs that can cause massive damage and death after release. There are good studies available on line about how bad the curled knuckle grip is.

I couldnt begin to tell you the memories this video brought back for me. That exact boat used to be my buddies. Hes the one who put the American flag on the motor. We put a TON of steelhead in that boat over the years

Losing top bead fish often may be because the bottom hook will wrap or snag on the fish and pull out the top. Think about the hook-in-skin removal method involving tying line to the bend of the hook. The bottom hook can also snag branches and whatnot and I've watched a few swim away at my feet. I don't bother with double setups often because of that and the tangles lol

Makes sense. I’ve definitely lost plenty of fish to them wrapping in the bottom bead line. Thanks for watching!

What are you guys putting above the bead? It's been so long since I was last into steelhead, beads weren't popular when I took my trout hiatus and I'd never heard of them until a few years later. I use a spinning rod or centerpin, but fly fished years ago. Could have sworn we put egg patterns at the top unless we were using woolly buggers or egg sucking leeches

Would be cool if you showed your bobber setup too! Is it just a standard bobber - weight - hook or something else?

I’m in an environmental class right now for school and the yellow dots on the steel and kings are how Wisconsin marks there stocked fish.
@sbsoutdooraction3055
@sbsoutdooraction3055 7 ай бұрын
We heard that before too! Wisconsin dnr put out a Facebook post that says that is false tho. Did your school teach you that?

@@sbsoutdooraction3055 the school did not, but we had a Wisconsin charter captain come in as a guest speaker and that was the information he shared was that the yellow (and sometimes blue) marks towards the head on the left and right side of the fish are from Wisconsin stocked fish. He could be wrong but that’s is what I herd about it.

All beautiful fish they are still full of energy on release, hope you find out what the yellow stuff is my thoughts jumped to a minor infection maybe.

I’ve also heard it’s a birthmark? Not totally sure but we see it on kings too so could be

Yall really need to stop saying "natural fish" / "wild fish"... just because it has the adipose fin doesnt mean it was wild born... the DNR only clips 15-20% of the stocked steelhead, clipped ones will be tagged in their upper jaw
