Seeing that it was 80 degrees at 5 am,what is the water temp on that small trib?Kinda think some of those fish could die from heat stress.Could be spring fed?

Gottya,that's the best thing to do.No waste.We used to have a good Skamania run on the Salmon River in Pulaski N.Y.They would summer in the 2 Fly Zones.They had natural cold springs.Opening day was always September 15 th.Any egg pattern was killer.Unfortunately that program is done,and Skams now come in the fall sometimes with the Kings.

i have zero experience with skam summer steelies out there. im from pa. When it's that warm, do you keep them all so they don't die of exhaustion from higher water temps?

All depends on water temperature, but yes in general it’s better to keep summer runs due to high mortality from the hot water. Mid to low 60s and under you can typically release them if done quickly

I use a 7’6 st croix eyecon. Longer rods like lamiglas 9ft x11s are a little better for chuckin spoons

Awsome vid. Know your super experienced but a little peice of advice is put a big more weight on your set up. Float is not quite sitting properly and whobbels a lot more when not riding properly

When you get finned by a catfish. To lessen reactions rub the injured area on the side of the fish to get the film from the fish onto & into the wound. This actually works!
