I purchased this mirror for Malcolm my red veil tail Betta. When placing it in the tank he flared to the max and started darting around 1/2 angry/scared the entire time, (I only left it for 2-minutes). After removing it he took about 20-minutes to settle down. That night when turning the lights out for bed he usually goes to sleep but was looking for places to hide lol, in the plants etc. "I"m not alone". Its worth the money, good for stimulation and breaks any boredom providing you use it correctly.

i've never heard people saying flaring is bad. only implying that doing it /too much/ is bad, but not flaring itself, just large amounts of time. Also your bettas are gorgeous

Because the flaring is a threat display, It is preparing for a fight and adrenaline is made. For humans to long or to much adrenaline is not okay, it will 'destroy' your body and the same goes for a fish.... A 'burn out'( in humans) is an example of destruction by adrenaline.

What I like about this product is that if they try to bite the reflection the mirror would move back vs when you put a mirror on the walls of the tank and they bite the wall which is firm and can hurt their mouth.

i want that for my rescue girl, Leela. She's getting a tank upgrade today! I got just a few days ago and she was super neglected. don't think shes even seen another fish before. but she has a nicer life with me now :) love all your fish

Liv Love I once saved a betta from Walmart that had fin rot and mouth rot he lived a long life and I got him all better but he sadly died from old age but he was goofy too

Sunny is so cute! 2 years old nice he’s so small for 2. My veiltail is almost a year old and way bigger. He’ll be celebrating his birthday in October. I have the mirror too but don’t use it often since they seem to find other ways of exercising their fins. I did how ever just buy a betta lotus flower that floats it’s supposed to be like the betta hammock and be a place for them to sleep. I like your bettas so cute! 💕

Another fantastic and great quality video. Me personally I don't like to put artificial things in the tank except for hammock. I have, male and female in tanks next to each other so they are flaring when I take the divider away. Greetings from UK and Poland. Great work.

You could probably use nail polish remover to get rid of the logo on the mirror. Just make sure to rinse it really good after

🥰 this vid had me laughing at how u described each one of your fishies. Bettas really do seem to have such personalities. I like that name Angry Boi. I had a Betta that we called Angry Girl. Her name was supposed to be Baby Girl but she proved otherwise lol. 🐠🐌🌱💕

I have a new betta fish in a 3.5 gallon tank I put that floating mirror inside the water, so far he did not respond to it. However I did get the betta log. You have really great advice. 🙂. I'd like to have another breed of fish in the tank but I know that they are solitary fish, is there any other smaller tropical fish I can put in a tank my size ?

My six bettas are in a divided 33 gallon long. I think they did better when they had more space. I’m probably going to make the 33 long a tank for just 4 bettas. That’s beside the point. Mine can smell, sense, whatever they do that lets them know a Betta is on the other side of the divider and they flare at each other and sometimes at me. I just love bettas.

I don't keep bettas so I may be completely wrong but you said that last betta has a hard time finding his food amongst other things. Do you think maybe he can't see well? Not from something you have done but some fish just don't see well.

I heard other fish can't live with betta males. How did you manage to keep betta male and small guppies or tetras in one tank?

That is correct, unless you have a barrier to keep them separate, you cannot keep males with other males. I only keep some males with other fish such as guppies. I choose bettas with a docile personality for community tanks.

Does he flare too much? It happens sometimes and if you prevent him from flaring, it might go back to normal over time.

Also is the platinum male with the red a different sort of color? I had a female platinum elephant ear female that I spawned and afterwards she developed those same red lines on the base of her fins and top of her head. I thought it was really weird!! And wondered if perhaps she was a different color... so far her offspring haven’t picked up that different coloration but we’ll see as the age

The current version of these has a logo on one side and a big "five minutes only" logo on the other. Really annoying to have these logos on the mirror!

Might be able to use a razor blade to scrape the logo off the mirror, I remember like 10 years ago that was the hot thing to do with your raybans lol, scrape the lettering off the lens with a penny. Since this is a flat mirror though a razor blade would be the easiest way to remove it most likely, the penny would be kind of difficult because of how big the logo is.

Nope, its not really possible as their fins are designed to open up all the way. They CAN get their gil plate stuck open from over flaring though. Moderation is key ^_^

Creative Pet Keeping thanks for clearing that up. My betta ripped his fin a while back and the guy at the fish store said some Bettas that aren’t breed correctly rip their fins when flaring to much
