Love body lock passing. I feel like I discovered a cheat code for bjj, I’m passing people I never passed before. Gordon’s got an instructional that’s like 12 hours long on just body locking that’s incredible.

@@ivyu0438 Gordon Ryan has an instructional on body locks. The instructional is 12 hours long. It covers any and every way to pass, to get around frames, and dealing with any possible thing they can do to defend against a body lock pass. It’s a 10 part instructional with 8 on instruction and 2 live rolls which 1 of is narrated by Gordon.

It's wild how gi and no-gi is so different -- two totally different martial arts / sports. Crazy how guys used to just show up to ADCC after doing no-gi for a few weeks inbetween gi seasons. He will pick it up fast
@piotrek3580
@piotrek3580 2 жыл бұрын
Exactly, nowadays you must choose between one of them because they are completely different games. Back in the old days Gi guys trained for the ADCC for couple of months and thats was fine, now if you want be top in no gi you must do only no gi.
@cyberboteco2840
@cyberboteco2840 2 жыл бұрын
@@piotrek3580 people still do that one month camp for nogi training for adcc. And there were lots of champions on it that arent dedicated only to nogi (Pena for example).
@zshakur
@zshakur Жыл бұрын
It's only different if you're following competition rules sets like Gordon said, "you shouldn't lose your super powers because you took off your Gi." It's like saying boxing is completely different if you're fighting someone outside the ring. Not really, you just don't have your hands wrapped and covered and there's no rules telling you what is and isn't illegal to do. That's the difference between training MA for sport and training MA for life.

@GenoGenovTihoonen
@GenoGenovTihoonen 2 жыл бұрын
@@tra1in1 that is true. But also Kaynan is an ATOS competitor, where winning is more important than submitting. It looked to me like Kaynan tried to game points and Meregali beat him to the punch.
@tra1in1
@tra1in1 2 жыл бұрын
@@GenoGenovTihoonen Meregali wants to win on points as much as anyone else. High level Gi competition is hard game. The biggest myth is 'I lost because I am a submission hunter'! Well, then you might want to change your game if you want to be worldchamp. Kaynan won his own weight final with submission. All big teams are trying to win by any way possible.
@GenoGenovTihoonen
@GenoGenovTihoonen 2 жыл бұрын
@@tra1in1 oh yes, all of this is true. And this of course is why BJJ as a spectator sport is not as big. You need to practice it and be pretty high level to be able to appreciate some of what's going on. What I am saying is that Meregali is very aggressive and submission oriented. And if his opponent also tries to actually ay jiu jitsu the match becomes pleasure to watch.

hopefully nic will pick up some tips on how to flip a bird, with proper form & function. note the volume of birds flipped by gordon ryan: to different people, at various distances, and with NO negative consequences; he's flipped off entire audiences with both hands & been applauded for it. by that golden standard, nic's foray into competitive bird flipping seems sophmoric (at best.)

@dan5626
@dan5626 2 жыл бұрын
@@Dillon_Ditch Not true. There is a whole lineage of BJJ dedicated to foot, wrist and knee locks, under Master Oswaldo Fadda, going back to the 1940's. Several of today's big schools go back to that source, like GFTeam. These locks were frowned upon back then because were found to be aesthetically displeasing when compared to other techiniques. Like most things in life, the development of BJJ and grappling overall was not conducted only by one agent (i.e the Gracie family), however the impact that the Gracie family had in jiu-jitsu and the creation of vale-tudo is incomparable.
