I stopped going to Sam’s club I was spending $ 600. A week, Yes it’s bulk shopping. It was still just to much for 4 people. I think when you have more. You tend to over cook. Left overs with rice or potatoes are okay! It just racking your brain to make them look different lol. Love your show. Learning so much even my daughter and granddaughter’s are surprised I am cooking again. Thank you Blessings

I love chicken wings, but they’re far too pricey. I’ve been cooking drumsticks in the air fryer, and getting delicious results. I season them as I would wings. They’re so meaty, juicy, and delicious. I’ve become a convert 😃

When my Sam's club bill was close to 300 dollars for two people, I stopped shopping. I really was not saving much and many times ran out to the store to pick up anything I couldn't get in Sam's club! These chicken wings are going to become chicken tenders in our house and my mouth is watering already!

My grocery bill hasn't been affected too much by the recent inflation. I eat a mostly plant based diet, including a lot of dried peas and beans. Rounded out with rice, pasta, and/or grains ~ to which interesting spices or sauces have been added, I continue to eat well on very little money. I also shop at Aldi's for cheap but great almond milk, for fresh produce, veggie burgers, cheap but perfectly good ice cream, and the best toasting bread around. My 'splurge' is sprouted tofu, now that I've learned to to cook/love tofu. Using a full spice cabinet, I make tagines, curries, Mexican food, Italian food, Asian food, African food, vegetarian paella, anything you can imagine.

I saw many many of your videos, this is the first time I actually tried it out. What a success! Even my picky hubby approved it and really likes the chicken wings. I used regular flour for half batch and used the cornstarch for the other half. Both turned out great. Not much different in taste or crispy wide. I also marinated the wings overnight. I will definitely make this chicken wings again. Thanks!

When I do a biweekly shopping at Costco I normally spend around $200 - $300 sometimes up to $400 per visit considering we live about an hour away from three different Costco locations, spending that much saves multiple trips to and from Costco per month. I do make my own mochiko chicken with slightly similar ingredients but in a different process, I have a couple of other simple Hawaiian recipes I’d like to share with you if I could.

Thank you Flo; for showing me your recipe. I had something like this in Hawaii some years back and I brought it home with me. My oven has an Air Fryer component, and I suppose I could try that. I have made this dish a number of times with pretty much your exact ingredients, but after marinating over night, I do the wings in a large pan with Avocado oil and they turn out beautifully. Have not used the Oven Air Fryer, but I am tempted to try it now. This was a wonderful presentation, and I thank you once again. A little tip: when smashing garlic: don't use a hammer, but rather the side of your Chef's Knife as it gives you more control. But I'm sure you already know that.

This looks fantastic, I'm definitely going to try it! I don't shop costco or Sams Club anymore since it's just me and my husband, so I shop sales and plan meals around the meat on sale, and surprisingly Trader Joes hasn't had the big increases that other stores have, at least for the items I regularly buy. I also get produce at Sprouts, so my grocery bill fortunately has not been much higher than before.

Flo you are a very realistic mother and down to earth person as to how an individual spend towards their daily expenses. It’s true we are in inflation and it’s not enough to be smart but doing things that makes sense. It’s no joke. On time I joke to the cashier by telling her please tell me how much do my groceries cost ? Because I might need to sell my car. Thank you to you and your helpful husband in giving us ideas on how to make ends meet especially for big family. Flo, you gotta pick and choose, use Farmer's markets, coupons, sales paper and price compare. Then plan your shopping trips accordingly. Trying to grow a few things, like herbs and lettuces. Also re-learning canning and freeze meals (food saver) for cheaper bulk purchases.

@Gail - reuse of dredge flour is tempting, especially if more than a cup or two left, but never (even freezing) a good idea. Apologies if a Debbie Downer, but probability of cross-contamination is high and freezing does not kill all bacteria. Guidelines set by NASA 25+ years ago, ensuring food safety for astronauts, remains the gold standard - easily researched under HAACP, and easily incorporated in family kitchen & practices :)

My family gave me a double-cell air fryer for my 70th birthday last month. I haven't tried it out yet, but it holds promises, even for me as a single fellow living alone. At some point, I hope to uncover/develop a recipe to feed my sister, Mom, sister's friend and roommate, and BFF ahead of a House of the Dragons viewing on a Sunday evening. Gotta get a good oil sprayer. Your use of it was an obvious plus, especially after your struggles with one that devolved into squirting streams of oil. I *so* appreciate your tips on making marinades, prepping ingredients "because this cooks really fast". I'd call into your cilantro adds except that my sister hates it (you know! "Just leave it out."). I'm going to try this one of yours soonest in my new BD present air fryer. Then off I go into more of your air fryer recipes. I lack that wonderful wok you have, though I do have a Calphalon wok in anodized aluminum, but many of your wok recipes remain on my "to do" list. Welcome home from Hawaii!

When we go to COSTCO, it's generally pretty mellow here. Great recipe! I remove added sugars and flours, but I do use the ferments and spices! Awesome! 💯💪😎👍💯

I only grab things from Costco like chicken wings, toilet paper etc, anything else is alot of times more expensive than places like Walmart, simply cause you don't need 2 family size bags of chips, or a value pack seram wraps for like 40 bucks so ot starts to add up, costco does this, trick you with 40% deals on items and sell you almost regular retail price as other markets but only difference is you're paying in higher quantities

I never liked airfryers because they dehydrate everything. Fried chicken is properly made only in a deep fryer or a cast iron skillet. However, juicy chicken with a decent crust can be made in both standard and toaster ovens if temperatures are correctly regulated.

One suggestion is if you don't already have a really good knife, invest in one & also a good pair of kitchen scissors. Then buy whole chickens & break them down yourselves. Even on a small chicken, I wind up getting 6 cutlets out of it. In addition, you'll have the back to use in broth, soups or for salads. Nothing will go to waste & it will only cost around what you would have spent on the breasts alone. Just a cost saving suggestion

Inflation is crazy, so its all about sacrifice now; unless you can afford otherwise. I shop locally, and always look out for the sales. I love steak & lobster, but I can get just as full from spicy hamburger meat & noodles.
