I remember all of this. Couldnt go to work, forced to stay in line for food stamps, going to get water at the fire station for flushing commodes, drinking water and cooking. Sadly, my friend and her husband and child lost their house and everything they owned at High Falls.

This was just 3 years after the Augusta,GA. Flood back in 1991!

It was horrific. My elderly Mother was residing on the 10th floor of St. Paul's Apartments & would have to walk down to get jugs of water that were provided to the residents. By the grace of God, she endured. They weren't allowing relatives or friends to get into the city. I was in Woodstock, GA at that time.
