Sweet Curse was written by Floor and ReVamp, the band she formed following the end of After Forever. The original features a duet with Symphony X’s great singer Russell Allen. This is an excellent version.

A s they first met at Beste Zangers, Henk had never heard about HER. But Henk was one the great idols of HER. And what they told in interviews, there was immidiately a perfect chemistry between them when they met. Soooo......your analysis was (as ever,I believe) absolutly spot on !!!!! This is one song of a totally free (on YT) concert of the GODDESS in AFAS Amsterdam. The first of HER solo-concerts shown to the world. Thanx for doing that ERIC.

The first time Frank ever used any "fry" in his singing was when he sang Sound Of Silence for her on this show (Beste Zangers). They did Phantom of the Opera as a duet on the finale.

Hi Eric, thanks for doing this version of the Revamp (Floor's earlier band) song. I love this version with Henke... Henke has only worked with Nightwish in the metal world. Floor was honoured to work with Henke when they were on Beste Zangers (Phantom of the Opera, 2019 series of BZ).

Henk is one of Floor's musical inspirations. I believe they met for the first time on Beste Zangers (a Dutch singing show in 2019) and hit it off. As a part of that show, Floor challenged him to sing a metal song for the first time - Disturbed's version of Sound of Silence; they also famously sang Phantom of the Opera together there too - Henk is very well-known for portraying Phantom on stage in the Netherlands, as as mentioned, he's one of Floor's music muses, so that was a big fangirl moment for her, and they're amazing together. Nightwish have had him on stage with them to perform it since too, since his friendship with Floor has now opened him up to metal in a way he had never previously considered. (You've gotta check out their Phantom of the Opera rendition)

The song was written by Floor when she was in Revamp, originally sung along with Russel Allen…..one of my favourites songs ever.

During the tv show, they took to calling him Uncle Henk. Lovable guy. He learned the distortion just for Floor and picked Disturb's version of Sound Of Silence to sing for her on her night on the couch. Also, I think they did some rehearsals for their duet of Phantom Of The Opera (his condition to agreeing to sing it with Floor on the TV show was they do a NW version and he get on stage with NW when they came to Amsterdam and do it there) and he hid his distortion from her so she didn't know he could do it (He joked, in his line of work, you use distortion and they say "Next") so his use came as a surprise, and he then tossed it in their duet, too. While he never did metal before, he sure seems to have a LOT of fun singing with Floor at this concert (a mix of Metal fans who knew her and fans acquired from doing the TV show), and in front of Metal fans during his guest spot with Nightwish and especially when Floor opened for Metallica. He's said often "Good Music Is Good Music"

Floor and Henk together, perform a handful of songs ever since performing Phantom Of The Opera, on Beste Zangers in 2019. I highly recommend watching that performance. It was their first time singing together, and was so magically perfect. Henk agreed to sing Phantom with Floor under his 1 request, which was, that he would want as a trade off, to perform with Nightwish. This became a reality after all the Covid restrictions were lifted. Thanks for doing this. Hoping for more. Cheers.

This song is Floor's baby, from her ReVamp days, and This version (Floor Jansen & Henk Poort ) is the only one that is "up there" with the original (Floor Jansen & Russel Allen). Powerful Song and Magical experience with those two ❤🔥. NWSU/FloorFan/Epican/Ayreonaut/TWA 🤘😎🤘.

Henk did a version of Disturbed's cover of "Sound of Silence" when it came time for Floor's episode of "Beste Zangers" in 2019. I think that was his first "metal" cover. He did Phantom of the Opera with Floor and Nightwish during the last tour to close the loop on Beste Zangers and to honor a promise. Completely Epic.

Perfectly pronounced Henk Poort! Henk was kinda Floor’s idol when she was younger. She really looked up to him….and still does Great reaction as always! 🤟🏼🤟🏼

I continue to believe the reason Floor is so loved by so many is not just her talent, it's her "girl next door" personality (an American expression). I've watched a lot of her interviews in multiple languages I do not speak---Dutch, German, Swedish. She manages to endear herself to every audience. She genuinely laughs and makes faces in many of her videos. What star/celebrity does that? This, plus that incredible gift she brings to the world. She and Henk definitely kick azz 🤘 Thanks for the reaction to this one.

100% - that's what does it for me. There are a lot of very talented people out there, but if someone turns out to be arrogant, that's a massive turn-off for me. With Floor, there's not even a slight hint of "prima donna" about her. She knows she's good. She knows she works really hard. But she also comes across as one of the nicest people I've ever seen. I saw her on stage for the first time just under two weeks ago, and it's just like you see in the videos. She has good banter with the audience in between songs, and you can just tell she loves being on stage, and would be up there even if she wasn't earning a single cent out of it. That's the biggest thing for me. Obviously she's an incredibly talented singer too, which goes without saying, but it's her personality that keeps me coming back for more.

Hello Eric, After Floors first band After Forever disbanded, she formed a new band called Revamp. Revamp has still Joost van den Broek on keys, who also was the last keyboardist in After Forever. Sweet Curse is originally a song from Revamps first album, Revamp. For this album, Floor wrote all the lyrics and composed the music, together with Van den Broek and guitarist Waldemar Sorychta. Lots of other fans already written here that Floor was a fangirl for Henk, after she saw him perform the musical Phantom of the Opera. A nice quote from Henk in "De Beste Zangers". He said in music, he wants to do "the whole bread", not only a slice and repeat that, but before he joined Beste Zangers, together with Floor he had never done something like hardrock or even metal. And yes, he took the oportunity to dive in these genres when Floor asked him to join her on stage in her first solo project. Funfact: Floor Jansen was asked last minute to support Metallica in Johan Cruijff Arena in Amsterdam (50.000 spectators) and yes, Floor and Henk sang the Phantom in a full Arena filled with Metallica fans.

Yes I was there and I couldn't have been happier. Floor was magnificent and Henk made an impression by appearing in a white tie tail suit. I was pretty close to stage and had to see them between a sea of phones trying to capture the moment 🤘🏽❤️

Henk Poort played the Phantom in The Netherlands. Floor got him to add a growl when they performed Phantom on the Dutch show "Beste Zangers", it was a new technique for him..

Sorry Milipro but Floor did not ask Henk to do growls, as they checked, pre show, the songs and likes of all te others he learned that Floor's father loved Sound of Silence from Simon and Garfunkel but he also learned that there is a metal-version by Disturbed. He asked his Amsterdam voice-teacher to learn him to sing with disturbed voice which is a BIG NO NO for opera. He also surprised Floor by adding disturbed singing to his part in Phantom of the Opera song.

Henk Poorts first performance with a metal band was when he performed Phantom of the Opera with Floor at the Nightwish concert in Amsterdam in 2022. Usually he sings musicals, operetta, opera and classical songs, so more or less from Verdi and Lehar to Andrew Loyd Webber. When he growled while singing Sounds of Silence for Floor in the show Beste Zangers, that surprised the audience, including Floor, and all tv viewers.
