Lancashire Clog Dancing. Each dance is named after weaving factory, as each loom had it's own rythem that the workers of that factory use to dance to, hence the name JIG ( part of the loom that separated the threads ) the REEL ( the part of the loom that held the threads) and the SHUTTLE. So you would have names for these dances like the Rochdale Jig, that workers would dance and tap out the rythem of replicating the sound of that loom. These jigs and reels were obviously carried out to America by Lancashire and Yorkshire settlers.

@@sinnombre4357 take a good look into "entertainment from the 19th century" in Texas, Kentucky, Tennessee, the Virginias all over rural America- dancing shoes that cost the price of a whole Sunday outfit, fiddles more valuable than horses, horns that came from the collier bands of England's coal country. Cultural variations on a theme of sharing and joy, hard work and hard play. These are, today, all Americans, as are the slack jawed tourists from the big wide spots , down the road- "bubabnites, city dwellers, whose entertainment is piped in from NYC or ...Hollywood! Watching Miss Moonshine was so much more, with so much less froo froo. I am a "city boy" but I guess I never was one to waste a good party! FR

I love to watch and listen to buck dancing..reminds me of home ..had some fine buck dancers and musicians that side of my family. my Welsh Scots Irish ancestors built their homes and stills first if it'd ferment it became white mule or some called it panther piss..not because it tasted bad but rather if you drank to much you'd get scratched up from stumbling in briar patches.. like you'd been wrestling with a mountain lion. My German forefathers built their homes and barns first..they brewed beers mostly..loved my German kin but the WSI side was more fun..
