My little brother committed suicide in October 2019. He was my best friend, the first love of my life, and a beautiful person. I don't want to miss him anymore. I don't want to cry for him anymore. I'm ready to be better, but it's not going to happen anytime soon. I found this song during a random KZfaq rabbit hole session, and it made me think of him. Made me miss him. I found out that Cole Randall is from the same town as my little brother and I (Park Rapids), and that he was only a month younger than my brother. It made the world feel a little smaller. This song puts to words how I feel now. Chris looked like Chris. But Chris lost his battle. He left me behind. I'll miss him for the rest of my life. I'll tell his story for the rest of my life. Came here to say i use to hear this song and think only of myself and the phases of me that have come and gone... times of dilated pupils staring at my reflection in the mirror at 3am... admitting to my self silently, "Lauren, look at you, youve changed..how did we let it get this far?" .... this song helped bring me back to myself quite often.... ***** But now, fast forward 10 years, im a mother now...and when i hear this song i cant help but understand it from my 10 year old sons perspective.. i feel when i start to lose myself or get off track... he would choose to use this song to express what that feels like to him... to witness his mom deal with mental illness and a life of grief, and have to be there in alll those moments, ups and downs and be able to notice when she starts to get bad again..... I know this song once showed me when i was changing, or needed to change ....i can only imagine it would be the same for my son.

I’m 23 and being silently suffering from depression. I have childhood trauma and always been cheated on or left on by people whom I cared and loved the most. This song was introduced to me by a person who played me emotionally. He is now happily married and I hope he is happy with his wife now. My ex who left me after 5 years is now getting married. Everyone is happy. And genuinely I’m also happy for them. All I wish is peace and happiness in my life and others who are going through tough times. Hold yourself. Your time will come. This is a very song for me. It came out around the time my grandma passed away of cancer in the hospital. She spent about a year there, taking chemotherapy with some other drugs that help subside the pain. We watched as she went from very talkative to almost unresponsive in a short amount of time. On the surface she was herself but inside she was gone. It was hard to go through. Grandma, wherever you are, I hope you're dancing to footloose and having a great time.

i really love all the different interpretations of this song. this song personally just reminds me of the fact that there are so many things i want to do and would do, if it weren't for people making fun of others so ruthlessly. and it also reminds me that so many others, including those that would make fun of me, are dealing with things they don't want to share or they want to live a life they enjoy, but they just can't due to the reactions of others.

Its amazing how a song connects us all in this life

This song resonates with everyone: Whether it be a breakup, losing someone you love. Or the death of a loved one, or the drifting apart of a family member, or you've changed, everyone interprets it I think with whatever's most relevant to them. For me, I have a little brother that I've been watching grow up and it's making me nervous for who he's growing up into. Some days, I don't recognize him. Deep inside something's changed in him and I can't put my finger on the why or how.

it is so strange to me how a song can affect people is so many ways like this one. I have never been able to keep friends that stuck around even when I was a little kid. I recently had my best friend leave me for other people and now I do not have friends and this song helps me get through the darker times. when all I feel is sadness or darkness creeping back in, I find a place or walk while listening to this song. this song helps me realize that I am not alone and there are other people that feel that darkness to and if I work hard as many have before me then I will get through this and find the happiness. song hits different when you realize its describing you in the eyes of others

I'm one of those people who intentionally listens to songs that make me sad because I like the feeling, but this song always hits in the most bittersweet way. It never fails to remind me of an ex who, long story short, cheated on and dumped me, and during my grieving I realised she was a very different person to who I thought she was, and I think of her because I feel like she wasn't able to see what I came to see; the toxicity, the lies she told, the false promises she made, the secrets she kept, the emotional abuse, etc. A silver lining at least is that helped me to realise what I truly deserve out of a relationship, and how I deserve to be treated by a partner (because one toxic relationship wasn't enough, I had to go through two before realising that.) What else I relate to in the song and about this song is that so much of my self worth was tied to my exes (separate relationships at separate times, of course) and after the second one, I really became aware of that and had to learn to value myself for who I am as an individual. However, I'm happy to say that was about 4 and a bit years ago and I have been in a wonderful, happy, fulfilling relationship for around 3 and a half years with a girlfriend who shows me the real her and who treats me the way I deserve.

Started listening to this song in 2019.. before our grandma passed. Couldn’t listen to this song without crying. She passed away from Lung cancer.. Her lungs didn’t collapse during biopsy luckily, she was put in ICU.. I couldn’t say any words while I was in ICU with her.. wish I would’ve but I hope she knew I loved her. She told me and my brother that she loved us before she went, I wasn’t there when they pulled the cord or her heart stop beating. She lived till 72 and had a somewhat happy life I believe! Just wish she would have quit smoking.. Forever in my heart Grandma. I was a Freshmen when she passed. Now I’m 19, graduating Highschool in December. I am now recovering from meth, crack and all pills. Didn’t use any drug before she passed. I am so happy being in recovery and I’m more thankful for my health than I ever was in the past. ❤ We can Recover!!!

This is the exact feeling of having a partner with BPD split and devalue you ... the person they loved so deeply and you thought they were your soul mate... they split..... they disassociate.... they write off years of being together in an instant... become a different person...all while you are in a devastating trauma bond without closure. Like watching your favorite movie and halfway through the lights come on and you're ushered out into a rainy dark night. Absolute environmental shock.

I just booked the lead in this amazing web show i’ll start shooting in july. My future is bright but most importantly my present is. I still my therapist sometimes when i feel the need to. I learned to accept myself and my feelings and i would say i’m feeling great.
