Florida Teen Kills Parents, Wounds Deputy After Guns Taken Away: Sheriff

10 күн бұрынAuthorities in Tampa, Florida say three people are dead and a deputy is injured after a shooting over Father’s Day weekend. Christos Themelis Jr. allegedly shot and killed his father, Christos Themelis Sr. inside their home, then held his mother, Rebecca Ann Themelis, at gunpoint as deputies tried to talk him down. The Hillsborough County sheriff says Themelis shot at deputies, hitting one in the leg, before he was hit by return fire. Law&Crime’s Jesse Weber discusses the case and the protection order allegedly in place with former NYPD sergeant Joe Giacalone.

This just happened in my small town of 5k. Marseilles Il. 21 year old beat his father to death with his bare hands. This kid grew up with 3 of my boys and was on there sports teams. We live in dangerous times people!

Everything used to be 21-----voting, gun purchase, and alcohol purchase----except some states allowed low-alcohol content beer, 3.2%, at 18. Then the Vietnam war happened, and 18 year olds were drafted into the military. A movement started to then give them more access, to voting, guns, and alcohol. Since we no longer have a draft, and military service is purely voluntary, we should take the age of majority for everything, back to 21. Only alcohol purchase has been taken back up to 21. Voting and gun purchases should also be taken back up to 21.

What type of education were the parents giving to their son..?? They are dead now, and their son shows himself in different pics, with a bottle of whiskey in his hands,plus they have guns at home , knowing their son was violent . This was an announced catastrophe . Now all the family is dead . I'm glad the wounded officer is going to recover from his wounds he was very patient in the stand off .

I think the only reason she didn't was an effort to protect him. She basically was a human shield. The first responders were trying to de-escalate the situation in a calm manner. She was told to walk towards his flashlight. I think he was unarmed when they gave the order to her. He went into the house to retrieve the gun. I mean she already lost her husband and is trying to protect him from being killed. It's possible she didn't think he would kill her. I mean that little trust she had with him went out the window and sealed her fate. She should've ran or walked to the officers. It's easy to sit and say what we would've done. Mental health, alcohol and guns are a recipe for disaster. Sure they took the sons guns away, but the mother getting her own gun for protection against her son speaks volumes.

During the 10 calls for service they found this guy to be violent and yet, the parents decided it was a safe place to have and keep guns. Make it make sense. Only in Florida. (or should I say, only in Murica) I do hope the young police officer gets all the help he needs to make a complete recovery and that the other LE's are able to move on without it making them trigger happy/nervous during the next similar calls.

@@anhiirr I have worked in mental health facility before. At times you get them in a bad shape. THe patient is managed and helped with drugs, after months they are derisked and compliant , thus released to manage at home. When the MHJ victim gets home sometimes they relapse and commit crimes. You cannot stop certain things because there are always gaps in which people cannot control.

Because schools are normally full of innocent children verses 3 obviously broken adults that dug their own hole. Based on an assessment of risk. Mass shooting protocol for response very different than domestic violence protocol and I don’t disagree with this.
