Paying for rides that are included in the ticket price, ain't for me. Never happen. It's a class system that broke the old fast pass experience...that worked. Then Iger tries to go beast mode during the shareholder meeting.

I went to the park from Calgary 2 weeks ago (Rain, Rain & Rain)....Love Disneyland so much and wanted to make sure I could maximize the time my family of 6 had. So l bought 4 day park hoppers with Genie + and then bought our way onto Rise, Mickey and Minnie's and even Radiator Springs Racers. Don't even get me started on what it cost after the Canadian exchange rate came into play. Thankful to have the opportunity to do it but I hated the idea that I helped make this pay to play model a success.

The creature ride for Galaxy's Edge should be what is used to transport people from the Galactic Star Cruiser to Batuu. That would be an enormous plus for the Star Cruiser, and it would have a dedicated track so guests wouldn't get in it's way. I'm sure Disney could find a way to make it work instead of using a box truck.

Aside from the issues that triggered this whole thing, I cant fault Florida for wanting to reconsider the privileges that Disney has with Reedy Creek. They were granted those privileges because they were going to build a city, collecting taxes from it's citizens and probably operating at a loss. What they built instead was a cash cow. I don't agree with the reasons that triggered this but I have found Reedy Creek interesting for along time.

There's 1800 special districts in Florida alone. Every corporation receives some privileges in all states as incentives; for example to keep jobs in state or use local suppliers. If what DeSantis did was OK, then any governor can now weaponize these privileges. They can do it to Chick Fil A if they don't support a pro-gay marriage bill, or the Mormon Church which receives tax exemptions beyond the usual ones in Utah. This whole thing was gross from the start; I'm glad he got doubly humiliated.

@@aishaalamoudi599 This isn't about tax exemption. I'm just saying the original reason Disney was granted a special district and al the privileges that came with it never happened. They were going to build a city, an large industrial complex, and an airport etc. None of that happened. They do have some overhead, but it's all for making additional profit. They don't have to put money into any public services that any of the other special districts you mention would need to have. And also I already said TWICE in my original comment that my statement had nothing to do with desantis.

Disney World needs the special status to be Disney World; it's all on another level in there. The outcome? Disney World employs 80 k in Florida and brings in 80 million tourists each year; that's bigger than any tourist attraction in history; not even the religious pilgrimages bring in that many. Disney World did it in Florida. Florida needs Disney more than Disney needs Florida. This whole thing with DeSantis is just gross pandering and has no substance; most Republicans agree with Disney, in quiet. I'm glad he got humiliated, twice; he had to reverse the first law and now this. I never thought I'd be cheering for Disney, but I'm falling in love with the Mouse. DeSantis needs to go home and see a proctologist before Trump takes his turn obliterating it.

You are spot on with lightning lane/genie plus. Totally feel penalized. More and more when I go to the parks it feels like when I’m not spending extra on extra on extra I’m just pushed a slide. In turn it’s felt less and less fun to the point I enjoy videos but have lost most my desire to actually visit.

The Bantha ride may still get build in the Galaxy 's edge expansion adding a much needed 3 attraction in the space between toontown and SWGE that huge warehouse behind SWGE and let it become avatar flight of passage type of ride !

We are committed rope droppers and vibe crushers. If we want to rip an attraction, we do it before 10 am or after 10 pm. We're fortunate to be two adults. For folks with families who can only visit once or twice a year, I think lightening lane and the extra cost is making Disneyland an impossibility. It's completely out of reach for a lot of families.

I wish it was still free at first come first serve, but you never know if the app is right with the time waits, sometimes it’s much less and the line moves quickly, and sometimes the wait time is so much longer than posted, I’ve been enuf times that I can judge it by looking at the line and crowd but, if you don’t go only once a year or so, not so much.

Family vacation at Disneyland is becoming a thing of the past .. creativity breaking down still adds up to the same budget breaking vacation. But you are 100% correct, Geni+ is factored in our budget, without consideration of what the day population may be. We have tickets for May with the prepaid Geni+ upgrade. We are not enjoying the service but pay for it out of fear of our limited time in the parks being overrun by crowds or long/slow lines.

I feel you on the themepark wars front. I love both universal/disney equally and frequent the parks as a local but it sucks trying to have a conversation with either side . Apparently I'm not allowed to ride hagrids n scoop up a butter beer, then hustle my butt over to happily ever after.

Oh and as for the State vs Disney.. there is no reason for one mega corporation to have this special rule and ability and nobody else does. Why cant my brother-in law do what Disney can do and use all the tax breaks and value his land as it was in 1966 as Disney does.. Universal would love to be able to do that too. It just isnt right.

Not so fast...Iger literally made the biggest mistake at the meeting yesterday when he essentially admitted that Disney is and was Reedy Creek. There is also potential criminal charged coming, in the very least civil punative litigation.

I've made this comment before, but I think it bears repeating: Do I think it's good that Disney is giving themselves political power? No, not really. Do I think it's hilarious they used it to pull one over on DeSantis? ABSOLUTELY. Despite the many failings of Disney as a corporation, I think a lot of anti-Disney people are missing the point that DeSantis is not someone you should root for. He strikes me as a petty man who will use his political power to force things to align with his beliefs, and I'm not just talking about Disney. New College of Florida is a small but very liberal public college, and DeSantis completely replaced the college's board of trustees with people like him who've made it their mission to make the college more conservative. I'm pretty sure that's an abuse of power for a governor to be taking this much personal interest in organizations that are not related to his office. New College currently has a GoFundMe set up to hire lawyers to fight back against these changes. I personally do not think we should cheer for corporations that only care about money, but in this case I pick Disney as the lesser of two evils.

So true, when i went last month I paid for everything hahaha. As you said what is another $20. I do agree they should price it higher. I paid $55 at legoland just to get on 50% faster. I love Disney so no matter what people like me will pay and Disney knows it.

you dealt with the political issues very well... they need to keep political junk out of Disney though, stuff like that would actually keep me from voting for them. and with that said i will agree Disney as a company needs to look at the fact all the extra costs to people especially now days is too difficult and takes away from the fun and experiences not to mention hurts the pocketbook way too much for people

Even if you're right in that Disney is trying to be inclusive to all, they're doing it in a way that's threatening and attacking their original audience. The race swaps in particular are that, and even to the point they go against character consistency and brand. That's not inclusive to all. That's them throwing away 80% of their audience that made them what they are for potentially 20% of an audience that has hated them for generations for doing exactly what they are now doing to their existing audience, with things like Song of the South in the past. By their own definitions of DEI that "people can't empathize with characters played by another race and people want to see themselves in characters portrayed on screen." Even to the point of cultural appropriation and tokenization. Their entire logic is circular and flawed at its root. This is them creating and taking sides in a culture war. Also being underhanded and trying to ignore desantis and go around his back is circumventing the will of the people of Florida. Them then trying to hope that a judge sides in any way for them after they did that is just completely head in the sand. Any judge that this case comes before is going to throw the book at Disney and the people involved especially, and penalize them harshly if they're not in the pocket of Disney. Any way you cut it Disney's reputation is tarnished because of all this.

As a long-time and active member of the LGBTQ+ community, I would personally say that the only thing I liked that Chapek did was that he did eventually take a stance against the “Don’t say gay” bill. Sure, the fact that he had to be persuaded to take a stance at all is annoying at most, it certainly doesn’t even come close to the level of disdain I have towards DeSantis for creating such a hateful and discriminatory bill and only attacking (or attempting to attack) Disney only out of spite with really no benefit to the residents of Florida.

How is it hateful? The bill restricts this for kindergartners to 3rd grade. Do people even understand these are young children were talking about, not young adults or adults? A kindergartner needs to be taught about sex at that age?

Sounds like you and Brickey haven't read the bill; fueled by your political and societal biases, you've instead bought into a shameful marketing campaign. If you have kids (I know Brickey does not), raise them and teach then whatever you want at any age. Many of us who do have kids have the right to raise our children without them becoming sexualized at a young age while in public school. This has nothing to do with inclusivity and diversity, which in it's raw form is a very beautiful thing.

@@RaginViper8718 Just because the word "sexuality" has "sex" in it, does not mean any actual sexual activity needs to be involved. It can be as simple as "some boys only like other boys" or "some girls only like other girls". Kids have crushes on each other all the time, they're smart enough to understand that basic concept. If you show a kid a Disney movie where the princess and the prince kiss each other, why should two Princes kissing each other be worse? This bill just seems like an excuse to try and silence LGBT people. Another way to "subtly" spread the idea that LGBT peoples' mere existence is somehow inherently "dirty" or too "inappropriate" and "wrong" for poor innocent to understand. LGBT people should not be treated any different than you would treat someone of another culture or religion.
