Deborah, thank you so much for choosing my name! We met at the Stitch New England retreat and chatted for a few minutes and I thought you were just delightful. Also, you pronounced my last name just perfectly! I always enjoy your videos and your stitching is just beautiful. Nice to go to a brick and mortar shop once in a while, isn't it? I like to tell people that back in the 80s, I lived in Indiana for a few years, and in our tiny little town there were three cross stitch shops. It was really big out in the Midwest back then! Thanks again for a lovely video!🌷🌷

Cynthia -- I'm so glad your name was drawn! And thank you for reminding me about Stitch New England -- I am very good at faces but less good at names. :/ I am very glad your name was drawn for this one -- and that I got the pronunciation correct! I took a shot at that one. Having three cross stitch shops in one town sounds like heaven -- oh, those were the days!

The little Mill Hill bicycle (penny farthing?) is so cute. I haven’t done a Mill Hill yet, but it’s on my list. I too don’t cook anymore, lol. If I baked, I would just eat all the goodies, so no baking either. I really like the winter pinecone😍 The lighthouse is sweet. It is a fun souvenir. We just had our county library staff day, and we had a Lego challenge. We were divided into 6 groups of 8-9 people. Then our team had the holders of the design, runners and builders. Design holders couldn’t talk to the builders. The runners had to relay the instructions to the builders. It was an exercise in communication and how best to instruct and then relay information. The designs were small. Only the holders of the design knew what the finished product looked like. One was a small camera, one a small backhoe with a “pile of dirt” . It was quite the adventure. I like the idea of reading all the Agatha Christie books. I listen to them too. I like Hugh Fraser narrating Poirot books. Did you know about the Nancy Drew books being rewritten in the 50s? Many were actually politically incorrect. The newer ones all have 20 chapters. The older are collectors items . See you next time

I used to enjoy baking as well, though I usually only would eat a few from each batch myself. I'd bake all kinds of things and take them to work to share with colleagues. We'd all get to enjoy. :D Another thing I stopped because of COVID. *sigh* I've heard of communication exercises like that before, though never with LEGOs -- I love it! I'll have to remember that one ... I also really enjoy Hugh Fraser's narrations. Any time I get someone else, I feel it's not quite right. I hadn't heard that about the Nancy Drew books, though I can't say I'm surprised. So many older books had content like that. :/

Hi Debra! So great to meet you at CT stitching circle. I think if you follow your intuition, you’ll come up with the right finish for your pieces! The Hawk Runs are so compelling - I want to do two particularly - the Houses and Shores of Hawk Run Hollow. Agatha Christie mysteries are so great. I have an interesting reading lineup - we will have to talk about sometime! Thank you for a great video!!

Enjoyed your video today! I love the curved frame for your French piece! That is not something you would see every day hanging on someone's wall! How unique! Old books are awesome! I have a couple books, but they're the same book. It's called Beautiful Joe - A Dog's Own Story by Marshall Saunders. One is a small 3.75 x 6.25 Phoenix edition and the second is published by Grosset & Dunlap and has all kinds of motifs on the cover such as Pinocchio (I believe), a cowboy, an Indian, pirates, etc, and says 'Companion Library' in the center. I think this book was published as a kind of group of children's books. The second book also has illustrations. Why I look for these books in antique shops is because in the preface the author says it is a true story about a dog named Beautiful Joe whose first owner was very cruel and mutilated him, and that grabbed my heart...may Beautiful Joe live on.

Thank you! I really like the idea of the curved frame for that piece too. I've started buying multiple copies of the same book a bit myself too. There's just something wonderful about finding new editions and seeing how each one is both a little bit different and a little bit the same as other editions. And it gives you something to look for in the used bookstores too!

Hi Deborah. Love that nautical pattern. As soon as I saw it I went and found it at Etsy. I’m also reading again all the Agatha Christie novels. Besides Poirot mad mrs Marple series she has also some other series with other detectives. So I’ve sorted them based of the main character and I’m reading them chronologicaly. As soon I’m going to finish the smaller “series” I’m going to read my real love Poirot. Enjoy your audios.😊

Oh, I'm so glad someone else liked the nautical pattern too - I think it's so eye catching. I thought about rereading Christie like that too, going by major detective, but decided to just go straight chronological in the end. I think your way is going to be such a rewarding option too. Enjoy your reading!

Hi Debra ( or Deborah). Sorry, I am unsure of your spelling. I am so happy to have gotten to visit with you today. I really enjoy your videos and especially the European designs that you stitch. I am working on Christmas at Hawk Run Hollow, but I love them all and definitely want to stitch The Farms some day. As for your framing dilemma, I would try and find another frame. I thought perhaps a little larger round one. It is such a delicate piece I would not want it to be overwhelmed by the frame. Thank you for sharing your stitching and other hobbies. I will be looking forward to your next episode. Take care.

Thank you, Crystal! (It's Deborah :) ). I love that idea of a round frame for the piece too. I think you're right -- it needs the right balance to not overwhelm the delicacy of the stitch. I think I'm going to keep looking, but will add round ones to the list of frames I look at for it as well. Thank you!

Hawk run in bigger scale sounds awesome. I was a Nancy Drew reader as a child or Kitty as the Swedish name of that character was :) I did buy a couple of Nancy Drew audiobooks that I really should listen to :) Hope you have a great week!

I love tiny things, but I am becoming more appreciative of 36-count and larger. Doing something so tiny that the details are only visible with magnification seems to be somewhat pointless! I look forward to seeing your Hawkrun Hollow piece(s) in whatever size you choose!

I know how you feel -- having tiny things can be so delicate and lovely, but there's also something so easy and appealing about making them extra big too. I love that this is a craft that lets us try so many different techniques.

I didn't like to read and need a book report finished in a few days. What to do? I got a Nancy Drew book and my mom read it to me. I got the report finished but that isn't all. I started reading and I haven't stopped yet. I can't read like I use to. My eyes won't allow me to. I grew up on Nancy Drew, Hardy Boys, Bobbsey Twins, and Trixie Belden. When I was a young teenager my dad would be me paperback books that were donated to the people stationed at the Nevada Test Site. Agatha Christie was one of my favorite along with Zane Grey and Earle Stanley Garner. My mother happened to open up one of the westerns and saw some of the language and I was forbidden to read them. What she didn't know did hurt me. LOL

I love that story -- it's all about finding the books that interest and inspire us to read, isn't it? I also went from mystery series for kids like those to adult mysteries like Agatha Christie too. I still have such a soft spot for all of them!
