Hello! I have a short story about locks of hair. I remember growing up and visiting my grandmother’s beautiful home in Dallas, TX. She had a framed piece that was a beautiful horse shoe design totally made with locks of her 3 aunts hair. It had silk flowers mixed in and was not covered with glass. I remember touching it as a small child and being amazed that hair was used. I would assume many people have never heard of such a thing and it does sound a bit strange. Having seen this as a child, and hearing you speak of sewing locks into a sampler, I am up for a try. Thanks for sharing all your knowledge of needlework. I appreciate you so much.

I just love the Mrs. Parkman's Needlework Class sampler and am popping over to your shop to purchase. When I went to Prince Edward Island in Canada to visit Lucy Maud Montgomery's birthplace, I saw several samplers and woven embroideries made with human hair. Evidently it was very popular in the Victorian and Gilded Age. They were beautiful and very intricate. I also saw one in Savannah, Georgia, when touring the historic homes there. Thank you so much for sharing all your wonderful knowledge with us. I love it! The quilt and other items were amazing and gave me some great ideas for projects with your sampler fabric I purchased. Looking forward to seeing you again at the Queen Cities class in May! Dottie

Locks of hair would show DNA. So maybe for ancestory line inquiries! Wow, how cool!

Another wonderful video. I love needlework accessories! I went straight to the HATS site and purchased the coasters. I am a caretaker for my disabled husband, so I can't attend workshops. I am so very grateful for your online workshops. Thank you!

Always a delightful time…♥️ One lifetime isn’t enough to stitch all the beauties…🌹🌹 I remember a talk on locks of hair used specifically as mourning samplers, or Birth . This talk was in Williamsburg VA. With the fabulous unsung hero JoAnne Harvey of The Examplarer Reproduction Samplers.. More first reproduction was from he we collection, I came across it at a museum.. In Michigan, ( I’m a native) at the Henry Ford Museum. Her samplers are found in Williamsburg Museum. Your collection has added such a broad range of BEAUTIES🌹 from a very very special Country full of sooooo much History, Thank you Nicola. Also Ty gif mentioning the mishaps of purchasing a printed version of Samplers. But most of all I missed seeing the 🐕 🐕 Maybe in your next video.. I love their personality’s & faces!!!♥️♥️♥️🤗🤗🤗 Blessings Nicola & safe traveling … Ohio here ❄️❄️🥶🌨️

Thank you for the great video. I quite enjoyed your video lecture on the two samplers as well. I have a pair of stork scissors from dovo that my mother had gifted me in 2020. They are such a great quality. It is sad that the company had to close. I wonder if cohana scissors are the same quality as well. Have a wonderful week!

I always look forward to your Sunday morning video. So much to see and learn. I ordered Margaret Anderson sampler along with the workshop. My question about the video’s in the workshop. How long will the workshop video be able to the purchaser? Looking forward to next Sunday parade of linen.

I just enjoyed your most recent flosstube. Seeing and hearing about sampler symposium was wonderful. I would like to know the name of the sampler displayed on your table on the front left. It has a red house with the letters WMO and a heart above. Thank you for inspiring all of us!!

I was wondering if you have ever talked about discerning the alphabet in names. Because looking at Gurness it looks like Gurnels to me. Is there a Flosstube where you've talked about it that I could watch? Thanks!
