this was an excellent example in coaching of how to be demanding but not demeaning. expecting the best in practice and motivating them to get there. Amazing.

I honestly disagree. It seemed so unnecessary and pedantic. Like what’s the point of asking those rhetorical questions?
@brooksdb36
@brooksdb36 2 жыл бұрын
@@12bestskater12 it’s absolutely ok to disagree. I do believe there is a level of importance in the way the questions and feedback were positioned. i don’t believe they were rhetorical they seemed more like leading questions. You know what answer you’re looking for but in coaching we learn that is not always the answer you will get. (Even when the question is rhetorical)

I was a miler and one year I became addicted to practicing coming out of blocks even though I never used it in a race. People don't appreciate the details that go into a good sprint.

Ive been knowing Coach Ross since our days in Fayetteville while he was at DIII Methodist and I at a local HS..... Due to the love shared for the sport we instantly became friends....and have remained that until the present. He does a tremendous job with his team taking them to unprecedented heights for an HBCU.... He and his team deserves all that they are getting.... There is no exception for hard work, dedication and determination.....keep up the great job guys....looking for those great results in Eugene at the NCAAs when it all comes together.

The last couple of steps to the hurdles you have to come out of your drive phase and get tall. The athlete is not putting on the brakes. He’s setting up for his cut step to be able to come down over the hurdle and not have to jump up over the hurdle. This coach is not a good hurdle coach.

In my opinion and it's just my opinion after running track from 1969 to 2004 the concepts are not being communicated well or correctly as to allow the athlete to grasp the concept and make the concept their own!!! If in fact you find yourself repeating the same thing to an athlete over and over and over again five six seven eight times then something about the delivery must be examined!!! Because the absorption of the material or information the digestion of the information is clearly not getting through!!!
