Flounder Gigging At Night

We gig flounder, gar, and a few redfish and see lots of really interesting wildlife throughout the night. In another video, I will show you how Billy prepares them in camp and we then enjoy a phenomenal fish fry!

One of my fav types of fishing when I was tiny (7/8) was spearing flat fish on the sand banks, great fun plus it amazed me that my mum allowed me to have a big pointy stick, just like you did 🤣 🎣

Used to frog gig as a kid in the creeks , lots of fun . Take a burlap sack , a flashlight and a gig and you get frog legs for dinner .

@ Dick Johnson. We used to go frog giggin'...we put a little twist on it though. We used .22 rifles...which also came in handy for copperheads, and water moccasins.

Not been drinkin' LOL. Like a frogs got 5 legs. Good fun man. Good times giggin'. Growing up on Oahu, live in a place that had a community backyard right on a brackish lagoon. Perfect for flounder, crab, morey, opehi, and baracuda. 7yo me and my buddies would take out a pool mattress, flashlight, hand line, and an net. We used to catch more than enough to for all of our friends families to have a Sunday pot luck off of our Saturday catch. Thanks for showing that again. How easy it is to return to mother earth, and live as we were intended. Life shouldn't be ad easy as we have made it. It's taken the reward out of the everyday success.

Oh I get it now. “Gigging” is spearing. Lots to eat there. I haven’t seen a gar pike in many years. They are rare here. Looked like a fun time! 😁👍🏻

I just saw your April 1 video and it had me very sad. I have found your explorations very interesting and historically educational. I grew up in PA and my parents were very good about taking us on tours of revolutionary war important sites that were in the areas we were visiting. You had me going right up until the end. I know what you do is a lot of work but I would really miss you. Keep on sharing your historical knowledge.

I love Flounder, the large ones we called Door Mat's and the smaller ones we called Flat Fish..very sweet, but these were salt water fish.... we used a spreader w/a weight in the middle and then attached two small fish hooks 1 per side of the triangle spreader. Fishing of the Docks we'd usually catch two Flat fish at the same time and reel them in, re-bait hooks with earth worms or sea worms and get two more. That could go on all day...! =)

Good fishing. Red fish have to be a certain size and Protected fish in Florida. Glad you’re having a good time. Don’t forget the cheese grits with the fish!!

Flounder very nice cooked in butter bit of Lemon 🍋 crab meat is nice in a fish salad 🥗 and shrimp 🍤 is wonderful 👍

Gar is some fine, fine eating if you know how to fix it. Here in Louisiana it fetches more money than beef. Excellent served with a brown gravy on rice.
