The 'wee bit hill and Glen' is referring to Scotland itself. We are a small nation known for our mountainous terrain, therefor Hills and Glen's (area between hills) The song refers to fighting for our country (our wee bit hill and glen)

They sing about the battle of Bannockburn where Robert the Bruce defeated Edward II army and won their freedom. I can hear that some people add patriotic shout-outs to the lyrics. "That stood against him (ENGLAND) Proud Edwards army (F*CK OFF)"

Proud Edward refers to Edward II of England, who was defeated at Bannockburn by Robert the Bruce. Alas, according to Billy Connolly, they did "think again" , and came back up in 1745 to "kick our arse," but in reality it's faaaar more complicated than that, and Scots fought on both sides at Culloden Moor. But that is a whole other story 😅

Btw if you want to know about Scotland google Scottish inventions. It was Scots who kinda made the British Empire and made countries like modern Japan with Thomas Blake Glover. There is a good book titled How the Scots made the Modern World

To understand the anthem of Scotland, you need to go back in history to when Edward king of England attacked the Scottish clan’s and try to wipe them out by kill raping etc , William Wallace made famous by the film Braveheart scratches the surface of the true history. I have to say I’m English but not proud of it when you look at our history and how they treated Scotland Ireland and Wales, I’m a Wales supporter due to family connections and proud of that. These separate countries are still fighting for their independence from England, I hope I live long enough to see Wales get its glory and independence back. Cymru rules 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

England, Scotland and Wales are all countries and, with Northern Ireland, they make up the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, which is not a country but a political union Glen is the Scottish term for a valley The song itself relates to the Battle of the Bannock Burn (Blàr Allt nam Bànag or Blàr Allt a' Bhonnaich) where King Robert de Brus, eventually Robert the Bruce successfully defended Scotland from an invasion of king Edward II in 1314 in he first Scottish War of Independence

How can you call yourself Scottish? Flower Of Scotland is one of the greatest anthems in the world. God save the king is not a national anthem, it is a song about one person who is part of a parasitic family and not about any country. It also has a verse about crushing the Scots.

All other uk countries have their own national anthems, which are so much better than that crap. By the way, he isn't my king. I have never seen any royal as mine. They are a bunch of parasites living off the taxpayers' money. They should be abolished, and the money put to better use, like the NHS.
