Frank Moore spent nearly 80 years living on or near Oregon’s North Umpqua River. His lifetime accomplishments as a fly fisherman, conservationist and veteran earned him many awards, including the prestigious Chevalier of the French Legion of Honor and an induction into the Fresh Water Fishing Hall of Fame.
Frank Moore died in January 2022. In this video from the Oregon Field Guide archives, Moore brings us along on a fishing journey in the river he called “the graduate school of fly fishing.”

Inspiration right there. I deployed twice, but never saw combat. Now I spend my days fly fishing. Spend a lot of time on the Metolius River.

@@papichulo1843, lol... NU can be a humbling experience. I spent many fishless days chasing my first winter steelhead on the fly up there.

Frank Moore- I wonder if you knew my Grandfather Harold Barker, or my Grandma Doris Barker? My dad is Bill Barker. My Grandpa helped build the North Umpqua Trail. This is a wonderful video! Love this! Thank you for sharing!

FRANK DIED at age 98. BURNED OUT : Franks cabin burned down in 2020 in the big forest fire .😑. Most of the Steelhead holes and runs were named by Frank himself.

Question: why do so many of the “old guard” fly fish switch handed? I am NOT beating him, he is a legend. I genuinely curious why so many cast with one and then switch over to reel in with that same hand. 🤷‍♂️

South Oregon need a lot of help with Klamath River. Power Companies have a death grip on water and power ! Nearly dead, down to 3 %.
