So, does a "Belgian Cast" induce twist? A Belgian Cast is really helpful to avoid leader tangles when casting indicator setups, particularly indicators + multiple flies.

Shannon- Yes a Belgian Cast will induce twist to the line since it is traveling in an oval path and not a straight line.

@@ScientificAnglers OK, thanks. For my stillwater fishing, I do sometimes use indicators with multiple flies and like to use the Belgian Cast for that. Is there any "rule of thumb" as to how frequently (i.e. after how many casts) I should stop and straighten out the line? So, pulling it behind the boat (with the leader/tippet and flies removed) is really the only practical way to do it while out fishing in a boat? Again, thanks.

Funny that swivels are the best new thing in fly fishing. I troll fly's and 100% sure they attract fish. They really help in the wind keeping the leader from wrapping around the tip.
