Join Carlo in a new Flybubble review, this time with Supair's ultralight pod paragliding harness, the STRIKE 2.
Supair say: "Lightness, precision and safety are the key words of the STRIKE 2. It is the worthy heir to our long experience in hike and flight harnesses, especially in competition. The STRIKE 2 is the result of our STRIKE X Alps 2019 and has the same main features as STRIKE."

I had this harness and loved it, but had to sell it quite soon. I found out that, it has basically no upper-back support if you like to fly with the shoulder straps wide open. I had to fly keeping my abs doing a lot of work. The alternative would have been tight shoulder straps, but no weight shift authority. So I will keep my delight 3 :)

I have to wonder why they added Velcro straps to the flight deck / reserve pouch. They got it right with the Strike 1. They just added more steps with this one. Also dislike the upside down carabiners. Really makes it a hassle to clip leg straps and a wing in. Looks like a real down. Wish I could find another Strike 1.

Hello, thank you very much for the harness review! I would like to know if anyone else complains about the system that holds the instrument pod of the harness? The velcro system is not efficient, always opening during takeoff and landing. Does anyone else experience this difficulty?

I also find the Strike 2 less stable - and more responsive and weight shifty - than the Delight 2, which is a particularly stable and reassuring feeling pod harness. Some find the Delight 2 a bit too stable, others love it. See our old video and written reviews of the Delight 2.

I found it more responsive (less harness dampening) than an open seaboard harness (Nova Itus) and have adjusted the waist strap to the minimum width to manage this. This harness made my high-B wing come to life in thermic conditions!

Is this harness suitable for beginner EN A wing? Thank you

For some reason they made the pod much longer. With the strike1 it fits perfect for me. Strike 2 I had to shorten to the maximum. Strike 2 is much more agile. There was already an issue about packing the reserve line. I love my strike 1, strike 2 is not an option for me. Sorry supair.

I've been looking at ultralight harnesses for the last 3 or 4 weeks . I like Sup'Air harnesses I currently fly a Delight 4 I was seriously considering the strike two for my lightweight kit, It ticks all of my boxes that I require including a seat board, choice of foam or inflatable, making sure that the front reserve risers go up to the shoulders things like that. Until I saw the way that the leg loops connect to the carabiners. Now I'm very sad. I fly with the Paralock v3 quick release carabiners and that system is not going to work. Perhaps I could modify things and add a second small climbing carabiner just for the purpose of connecting the leg loops, but still, that's not going to be the best solution. Drat.

Apart from concerns about durability and skid landings, is there any reason why this shouldn't be a first pod harness after a season or two in an open harness?
@flybubblecarlo
@flybubblecarlo Жыл бұрын
Actually, since the STRIKE 2 is relatively stable, it could be suitable as a first pod harness after a season or two in an open harness. The STRIKE 2 is actually one of the more durable ultralight pod harnesses. With the same provisos about durability, the Advance WEIGHTLESS and Gin Genie X-Lite could also be considered. However most pilots would probably be better off going for a more durable option. If you don't mind carrying a little more weight, I particularly recommend looking at the Advance LIGHTNESS 3, Supair DELIGHT 3 and Woody Valley GTO light 2 (with Foam Protection). The Gin Genie Lite 3 is another great candidate as a first pod, but it is significantly heavier. If you want Flybubble's expert advice on which is best for you, so you can make a more informed choice, check out the Flybubble MATCH service.

In my Opinion using a Beamer doesn't make sense if you don't have quickouts. You'll be having trouble with downplaning, also you can't take advantage of steering the rogallo since you'll be busy killing your main wing. just my 2 cents :)

Hi Carlo, I think you are flying the Large size? How tall are you and is this size the best one for you?
@flybubblecarlo
@flybubblecarlo 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Roman. Well spotted, eagle eyes! 🦅👀 You're right, in this video I was testing the size L. I also tested the size M on other flights (but didn't video those). I'm 183 cm, slim build, long back, short legs. Actually the size L is a bit too big for me (which is why it looks a bit loose and creased in some of the video, it should be tighter and smoother with a better fit). The size M is better, although a little short for my long back. Size M is what I would go for now.

Thank you for your answer. So with 183cm and long legs short upper body probably L should be fine?

You said you don’t recommend it for a first harness. What is high on everyone’s list as a first harness?

Not a pod harness
@flybubblecarlo

Although there's no one rule to cover everyone, like almost everyone, we at Flybubble don't recommend a pod harness - any pod harness - as a first harness (even less an ultralight one like this one) for various reasons I won't go into here. As for "what's high on everyone’s list as a first harness" again the truth is again there's no one answer to that question - it depends on the individual and changes over time. There are no *good* shortcuts to choosing the right equipment. This is why we offer our unique export buying service, the Flybubble MATCH service, which you can read about on the Flybubble website.

@@flybubbleparagliding I built up a massive deficit in groundhandling the past 2 years during covid, so launching it is a little weird, still... - BUT, that's completely my fault. In terms of flying it: Perfect! Especially the accelerator and risers are borderline genius! The C-Handles/-control works perfect! I don't think I could even come up with a point worth criticizing. I would have loved to try Nitinol in my/a wing, but it does fly perfectly without it, so that's not a criticism. I'm eager to watch your guys review on it!

why does the airbag not cover the whole back ? Since Karpofly disappeared with still clearly the best airbag protector ever, there is not any harness available, that is all over useable with a godd proctection....

Is this Strike 2 more talkative or more dampened compared to Strike 1? Also, how does it compare in that sense to Lightness 2? Is it more stable? The is no ABS system on the Strike..so I wonder how's the feel of it in turbulent conditions.. On a side note..ABS in harnesses is a bit of a mystery to me. It would be great to see you make a video about it :) Thanks!

I hate this harness so much it's unreal. Just don't get it, neither from a design nor a business perspective. It's not as ultra-light as a neo stay up, it's not as durable and comfy as a gto 2. Who's this harness for? Clipping in is terrible, screw lock carabiners just add to that. Why? It's an unnecessary extra step in an already unnecessarily complex routine. The speed system is messy, especially with mountain boots (this harness is advertised as vol-biv?). If you're not using an ultra-light reserve, the flight deck gets too heavy for a clean pod surface. Speaking of which, adjusting your pod is easy, keeping your settings locked is kind of a gamble. I had to remove the plastic pieces meant for adjustments and just use knots. Otherwise the pod became loose and flappy. The whole fabric looks cheap and not durable compared to let's say the neo. Admittedly, it does thermal nicely. Dampens out a lot of the crap and let's you focus on finding the core. But as already mentioned in another comment, you'll be using your own core a lot, since upper back support is minimal to non-existent. After hitting the 3-hour mark in several flights, I just toplanded because it became so uncomfortable. If you want to trade weight for comfort, there are lighter, more thought-through harnesses on the market. If your priority is comfort but you still want to do volbiv, just get an gto with inflatable protector.

This is so funny that you mention the GTO 2, I just tested one and for me this is the most horrible harness I ever flew in and I think tje speed bar is so bad that it is even dangerous. But that shows how different peoples likes are.
