Interview was interesting given his command of language over the short period being in Philadelphia. Will he be staying in area to train with players who do their offseason training at the Flyers Skate Center?

Jason, timely interview, nicely done! Not sure about anyone else but the contract seems fair to me. This contract was two fold: honor commitment to the player coming over from Russia and build good will with Russian players. If this in any way helps with Michkov it is worth it.

I expected 2 mil. I remember some GM saying you can sign anyone for a year. It's a little more for a two year deal. It's hardly the end of the world. And it is based on his experience in the KHL and international which is highly touted and rated. It's a low risk high reward signing especially based on the fact that we're not pushing as a contender right now. Also I think Russian Hockey might see this as a sign of respect for their league and their talent. I think there is a lot of pride there and I think that this signing may be one of the reasons we're hearing Michkov's name being floated as being released early.

I wish he would've elaborated on what he meant by "cost of doing business" re: Fedotov's $3.25 AAV. Was Fedotov promised a ridiculous overpay (which is what he got) if he made it to Philly before the season ended? Something like that? Yes it's only 2 years but the point is Fedotov now earns more than twice as much as Ersson and Ersson worked his ass off for the Flyers this year. Fedotov's contribution was practically non-existent. The extra $2mil they overpaid Fedotov could've been better spent elsewhere.

I have high hopes for Fedotov. This contract does not bother me in the least. If he makes the transition and performs well, awesome. If not, we lose games and get a better pick. Win-win.

Can’t the Flyers supply a translator for the guy? Unless he insists on sitting down without one I assume he would be much more comfortable conducting interviews until he is more proficient with English.
