I am upgrading my 1957 Cessna 182 Skylane's panel to a brand new Garmin Panel! Come along with me as I fly my plane from my grass strip to Gardner Lowe (www.gardneravs.com/) in Peachtree City, Georgia. We talk about the equipment I am installing and get a plan in place to make it happen. Stay tuned for Part 2 to see the panel finished up!

She's a great old plane. The updates will be brilliant. I love vintage things, and live in a 93 year old boat. These elderly machines have amazing character. I think we're custodians, rather than just owners! Looking forward to seeing Mojo fitted out.

You guys seem to really enjoy your 1957 182. We bought an identical plane (N4003D) in Las Cruces, New Mexico. It had 1300 total airframe hours and 350 hours on a chrome major and prop overhaul. We enjoyed the travel it provided as I was a construction engineer and we moved periodically. We made many flights, with two kids, to all parts of the country. My wife got her license in Texas and we both enjoyed the challenge. Thanks for your channel and we will stay tuned.

Missed your videos in the past few weeks. Got a glimpse of your new panel in some of the AirVenture videos before you posted this video. I'm not usually a big fan of old, vintage panels, but yours is so nice looking! Having said that, your new panel appears to be a great compromise between an original vintage look and feel, and the functional, modern avionics a glass panel can give you. It looks like you made great choices and I can't wait to see the final product.

Had the 1962 fastback slant tail 182 and 2 newer 182's with the rear window and electric flaps! The early 182's were the lightest, fastest and had the wonderful mechanical flaps! You've got one of the better 182 models! The straight tail 182's were basically 180's with tricycle gear. A friend of mine who had a straight ail 182 easily converted it into a tail dragger, he said Cessna still installed the box beam for the forward main gear and I believe that is correct for all the straight tail model 182's. If I'm wrong, someone can correct me. What a GEM you'll have with the Garmin Panel!

I recently connected with the owner of the plane I learned to fly in (30 years ago!) and I was shocked to see that the avionics have not been updated except for a few replacements. Very nice airplane with great performance, and choosing the Garmin avionic is the best. I just very strongly recommend to remove two or at least one of your GI-275 devices and instead add one or two large PFD/MFD display(s) which usually becomes cheaper overall and you will get much bigger benefit and comfort by feeling the most modern glass cockpit on your panel having access to everything while displaying big maps and much extra information at the same time/even do not need the transponder and radio panels since they are all easily accessible on your PFD/MFD displays. Without this option, especially since you are installing GTN-650 (small display) instead of GTN-750 (Large display) you are limiting yourself to very low monitoring. I also recommend GTN-650 instead of GTN-750, plus adding a large (10-inch) PFD/MFD display coming cheaper and at the same time giving you much more options and information so that you feel your airplane like a big Jet Airplane. If the G3X touch option (10-inch) works on your airplane, then that is highly/mostly recommended option! I am an engineer, not a certified one in aviation, I and my daughter are planing to build an RV-10 soon, just discussed everything with a Garmin expert at Oshkosh 2022. Wishing you all the best results and always safe flights with your family!. Warmest regards, Fariborz.
